Happy!

Hello Livejournal, long time no see. I moved house, then I went on holiday, and was consequentially internet-less for about two months, but I'm back now. Have been back for about a week, but more important things than you kept happening.

It was nice to be home, the holiday was a bit of a farse though. I have an unfortunate habit of hitting clumsy patches in life. This means that for about a period of about a week, I am more clumsy than anyone I have ever met. During the holiday, I seemed to spill more drinks than I drank, I pulled a shower curtain rail down onto my head, I stabbed myself with a scalpel.. I had two AMAZING bruises from various things too. (Last night was a blast too, I woke up absolutely roasting, a bit dehydrated, so I went and got a beaker full of squash to sip if I needed it during the night. I then proceded to drop it. ON MY BED. I just let go of it, for no reason. I must've been more asleep than I thought. Needless to say, by the time I had got it all cleaned up, I was so awake I couldn't get back to sleep again..)

By the time my sister's birthday came around, the clumsyness had gone thankfully. We had a nice day out in edinburgh, where I got down about all the pretty things I couldn't afford, and my sister bought herself a DS, and I got even more down since I've been aiming to buy myself a DS in FOREVER... and we saw Fantastic Four, which was ok, though I still don't think Jessica Alba makes a particularly good blonde.

Back in Glasgow, after I had moved in properly, I finally treated myself to something I can't really afford. It was probably a bad idea, but I don't care. I saw them and I fell in love. I couldn't allow anyone else to get them first. I am referring to my two new baby girls, Izumi and Inara, two black and white gerbils who go through about seven toilet roll tubes in one day, and make one hell of a racket at night. I spent about the same amount of money on them and their paraphenalia (sp?) as I would have on a DS.. but what the hell. <3

Also, since the flat has wireless broadband now, I can at last torrent whatever I like, harrah!
This has kept the fangirl inside EXTREMELY busy, let me tell you.

I geeked over Xmen:Evolution, so I had to have it. All four seasons.
I NEEDED Loveless, so I got that, all 12 episodes. And then I got the soundtrack too. (Which is a little odd actually, a lot of french lyrics. Not sure what to make of it..)
Smallville series 1 is downloading as I type, but seems to be taking forever in comparison to the others..

And finally, I downloaded EVERY Fullmetal Alchemist song/album/single EVER. All in one big group. I am talking about 225 tracks here.

HEAVEN

I have only just started to work my way through them. There are all the opening/ending themes, all the lovely orchestral pieces from the show, as well as the film, and these are all nice. (There are four official soundtracks! FOUR! Three from the show, one from the film!) Then, as anime soundtracks are wont to do, the characters all sing their own songs too. I have three/four tracks each from Ed, Al (which is funny when you hear his tincan-head echo), Winry, Hughes, and Mustang.

As I said, only just started to work my way through them. I haven't really played any of Winry's or Hughes' songs, so I can't comment. I listened to the beginning of a duet of Mustang and Hawkeye, and wasn't impressed by Mustang's singing skills unfortunately. However, I shall give him a proper chance, less than half a song isn't exactly good grounds for shooting him down. The same goes for Al, the only song of his that I have listened to with any regularity doesn't feature him at all. It's trance, and features the homunculi. The reason I like it so much is not because Envy's voice in it, but because Gluttony has this hilarious laugh that gets repeated and has me in stitches every time.
^_^

Ah Ed, dear Ed. I had to listen to these first, because his seiyu sings another song which I love; Hitsugaya's 'This Light I See'. Happily, Ed has kept me happy with another fantastic song (there IS one I'm not that keen on, it's not bad, but it doesn't impress me like 'This Light I See'.) called 'Returnable Memories'. He also sings one with Al and Winry which is good too. I'm a happy fangirl right now! ^_^

The one thing I've noticed with these songs is, although I can't imagine Toshiro Hitsugaya having any reason to sing at all, I CAN hear him singing 'This Light I See'. With Ed, even though I can see him singing, having fun, I can't see him singing these songs when I listen to them. I think part of the problem is that while Paku Romi gives Hitsugaya an appropriately calm and restricted tone of voice, it is quite deep and so he therefore sounds like more of a man. Ed however, has a much softer, carefree tone of voice, and this unfortunately makes him sound like a woman while singing, so instead of seeing the character, I see the seiyu. Darn.

Anyway, enough chatting about crap. It's late, I need as much sleep as I can get at the mo.

geeky, gerbils, fullmetal alchemist
