congrats on passing!! Was it really difficult? I've only studied for a year but because my teachers thought I learned really fast, as a going away present, they gave me the preparation book for the the 2.
It's definitely difficult, and I have both friends who took it at the same time who passed and those who didn't pass. I didn't find the test particularly difficult when taking it after going through a grammar book and practicing kanji with my ds, but there were a lot of questions where the grammar points were really awkward ones so you knew you'd never use any of the 4 choices in conversation, and yet you were supposed to pick the correct one for the sentence. It's really just that the grammar for level 2 is getting into the "no one fucking uses this" stage.
And then Level 1 is the "If a native speaker can't pass it then why the hell am I expected to?"
I'd say that you should go ahead and try for it in december (I'd say July but it looks like this year the July test is only being given in East Asia). I'd only had one formal year studying when I studied abroad but after leaving left with high intermediate and probably could've studied to take the JLPT 2 last year but never had time with how many hours I worked last year of
I don't plan on taking the 2 just yet as I know I'm not ready for it. Still, I was just curious as to how difficult it could be since they felt I could do it after one year. I like your description of the test though. It makes it obvious that I cant pass. Theres no way I could do anything that no one fucking uses as I learn everything on the streets.
Yeah you really have to study the level 2 book, though the one I had was just sections you do a quiz, sections... and it worked pretty well.
It's an evil test. Your best bet is to take the N3 in december, which is the one they're adding that is like Pre-2 and a more realistic transition from 3-2.
