the norm
christmas vacation has been excellent minus a couple bad days at work. which i guess is bound to happen eventually.
so ya remember how everyone told me blah blah i wasnt gonna make it through all the tests for this kidney thing. ummm yup uh huh seems like i might very well be having this surgery. yesterday i talked with a surgeon, nephrologist (sp??), and social worker along with giving blood and getting more tests done. so basically they told me all the people i had met with were gonna sit down and talk about if i was capable of doing this on thursday morning. hmmm today. then they would call me tomorrow and let me know but they told me to go to my doctor and get one more test done and then i would just have to get the ct spinal xray and i would be done with the tests. they also told me i needed to let my job know aboutthis. so i think as long as all my blood work comes back fine (they tested me for hiv/aids, hepatitis, etc) that i'm in like flint.
im having a lot of mixed emotions about this and have thought long and hard. heres my logic behind all this:
- i'd be saving his life
- it would only put me out for 2 weeks at the longest (except lifting things & driving)
- he would be able to have a better quality of life
- the average wait for a kidney in michigan is 4/5 years
- i have excellent friends who will help me through this along with my family
- i passed these tests for a reason
- i would hope if i was in this situation my friends would get tested for me =)
so heres the reality .......... i will be going through this if i passed my blood work. i can on the other hand back out at any time but really i dont think i would do that.
****sigh**** i wish they wouldnt have toldme yesterday to do all this stuff unless they were certain about me passing this stuff. now today i have to sit around all day and think about it. but i am trying to forget about it and blair & i are gonna go see a movie. this will be a good distraction. i will keep everyone informed.
