Last year - as Valnetine's Day was approaching, two of my single friends were not looking forward to it.
I said to my girlfriend, Kate, 'Well you dont have to be alone - it is a day of celebrating Love - and as such, we can celebrate our friendship with one another, we all love one another".
That one idea, sparked our "Valentine's Dinner".
We all got together last year, and the kids too, and we had such fun.
This year, we did the same.
Kate came along as did Dean, my other single friend. Who were both at my dinner last year.
This year, Jacqui , one of Dean's single friends came along for the first time, with her daughter.
We all , as last year, cooked a dish each, and shared the food.
I decorated the table and bought a helium balloon that was shaped as a love heart.
I bought a bag of tiny red shiny love hearts and tiny red 'happy valentines day' words and scattered them all over the dining table.
I bought heart shaped chocolates and two pieces of red cardboard that i cut into love heart shapes and wrote at the top of them both ; "Love messages"... the idea for these cardboard hearts, was for us all to write messages to one another, during the course of the night. :)
I opened a few bottles of champagne & we all had a lovely night....
Each year i buy the kids a little gift, this year it was a teddy bear holding a love heart... ( 3 girls this year)
I look forward to this tradition now, and so do my friends.
We celebrated love together and it didnt matter if we were single or attached.
<3 to all.......
