I believe that eating is a sacred activity. It's because we're definitely feeding our bodies and it becomes a part of us. That's why I'm so careful of what I eat. (No, it's not because I'm afraid of getting fat. I'm more interested in eating properly.) I've read French Women Don't Get Fat and it's a book that has changed my life completely. I've subscribed to it's ideas of seasonal foods, chewing properly and drinking lots of water. Not to mention the fact that it tells me to savor the flavors and textures. It also champions the idea of cooking and appreciation on how food is actually prepared.
My diet is not set in stone actually. I eat what I want when I want it. (I don't eat just to relieve my feelings like boredom, stress and frustration. I only eat when I'm hungry.) I eat a wide variety of foods. I'm not picky. I will eat whatever is on the table.
My father is a great cook. He is a master in the kitchen. He will whip up a mean tinola, adobo, caldereta, menudo and soup when he's asked. In fact, he's in charge of our menu for everyday. My mother's specialty lies in the Italian dishes like spaghetti, carbonara and baked macaroni. My parents are always in charge of the menu and the cooking whenever there is an occasion.
For breakfast, I have a Herbalife shake. It's either in chocolate, vanilla or berry. I got into the Herbalife lifestyle last year, thanks to a good friend of mine. It's a complete meal in a 250 ml bottle. Aside from providing the correct combination of vitamins and minerals, it's also yummy! I love it! I've been drinking it to maintain my slender frame and to calm those cravings. I have lots of energy throughout the day. I didn't believe in the health food craze but this completely changed my mind!
I also drink salabat or ginger brew everyday to repair my vocal chords. There are fruits, calamansi juice and the random sandwich. Sometimes I eat cookies or dim sum for snacks. Most of the time, I skip merienda.
When my friends and I go out to The Shop Around the Corner, we eat pasta or panini. I love to go out to eat! I love to explore small restaurants and cafes for their menu. I don't normally eat in fast-food restaurants because I fear the calorie content of their food. I do have a soft spot for doughnuts. They're my favorite comfort food aside from chocolate.
Since eating is a sacred activity, I believe in sharing it with other people. I love to eat with a large group of friends or family members. Oh, the things that we'll talk about! It's really great. I also love to practice table manners and dining etiquette. It sounds weird in an abbreviated age like ours but good manners never go out of style.
