I've Got Your Picture, I'm Coming With You Part 9

As always, I don't own anyone, none of this is real, blah blah blah, you know the drill.

“Can we go for a drive?”
“Where do you want to go?”
“I dunno. I just don’t wanna be trapped inside today.”
“Let me check with Matt and see if there’s a driver available.”
“Okay. I’ll stay with Lexy, we won’t move.” Way to jump ahead a step Jack. I made eye contact with Alex, who nodded, confirming that yes, he’d heard the conversation and yes, he wouldn’t move or let Jack out of his sight.
---
“So, where am I taking you two today?”
“I dunno, somewhere where there’s no traffic and we can see the sky.”
“Is there a local park or something nearby?” I always seem to end up translating from ‘Jack’ into ‘normal’.
“I’m not sure how close it is, but I do know of one place.”
“As long as it’s not 3 hours away, I’m sure it’s fine, thank you.” Beside me, Jack had started to bounce. “You really are 5 at heart, aren’t you?” Jack just gave me his cheekiest grin and then continued to look out the window. “Do you want to know who was on the phone earlier?” Jack shook his head.
“I trust you enough to know that if you think that it was someone unimportant, then it was someone unimportant. I’m sure you’re only gonna tell me tomorrow anyway, but I trust you... Is that where we’re headed?”
“Yup, that’s it. Is that what you wanted?”
“Big open field, skate park... yeah, that’ll do.” Jack was bouncing in earnest now.
“Jacky, stop bouncing. You’re making me nervous.”
“But... But... I’m excited.” He sounded so heartbroken that I just couldn’t help but laugh.
“I know you are honey, I know you are.”

Five minutes later Jack was running as fast and as ridiculously as he could around in the open expanse of green grass. I could barely keep my eyes on him as I was bent double and laughing so hard I was crying. The next thing I could see was sky. Jack had crash tackled me onto my back and was currently curled up next to me, panting for breath, head on my stomach.
“Feel better now?” My hysterical laughter had died down into giggles, enough that I could speak.
“Much, thank you.”
“I’m glad. That was the best laugh I’ve had in ages, thank you.”
“You’re quite welcome. That was the effect I was hoping for.” We lay there in silence for a while, watching the clouds, just enjoying each other’s company before we had to return to reality.
“Hey Petal?”
“Yea Jacky?”
“Are you happy here? With me I mean?”
“Of course, I wouldn’t drop everything to come check up on you if I wasn’t.”
“Okay.” More silence as I wondered where Jack was going with this before; “Will you do something for me?”
“Depends on what it is honey. Especially in this town.”
“Marry me?”
“Jack... what?” He sat up to look me in the eyes.
“Okay, hear me out. If we get married, I’ll have you for the rest of your life right?” I nod, waiting to see what else he’ll say. “Right. And you’ll never have to leave again, right?” I nod again. “Then why don’t we get married?”
“Do you love me Jack?” This is going to decide my answer. Screw logic, screw everything else. If he says yes, I’ll marry him right now. He reaches out and brushes his fingertips along my cheek.
“Yeah. I do. I love you. I have for a while now.” I lean forward and kiss him, hard enough that I push him back so he’s lying on his back with me on top of him. He pulls back.
“I take that as a yes then?”
