I've Got Your Picture, I'm Coming With You Part 6

As always, I don't own anyone, none of this is real, blah blah blah, you know the drill.

Three hours later and the phone was ringing again. Matt checking up on us and letting us know we have an hour to be down on the bus I bet. No way was I moving until I had to. I ached all over, but it was the good kind of ache. I knew from experience that it would last at least another two days. So much for playing nice, boys. I smacked Jack in the stomach as Alex was in the shower.
“What?”
“Phone’s ringing. It’ll be Mickey.”
“Stupid... What?” Matt was not going to be pleased with that. From the muffled yelling down the line, he wasn’t. He’d probably heard everything too, it’s not like the boys know how to be quiet when they ‘play’, and considering the fact that he and Alex were kind of a ‘thing’, on this tour at least, this ride to the next town was going to be fairly unpleasant. I planned on sleeping the whole time. Jack had crawled out of bed and was handing the phone to Alex, who’d just emerged from the bathroom.
“It’s your boyfriend. He’s pissed. You deal with him. I need a shower.” I now had two options. 1) Stay here, comfy on the bed, and listen to Alex get yelled at by Matt, or 2) join Jack for a shower under lots of hot water. Option 2 it is then. This was our last chance for some serious hot water until the next hotel stay, just over a week away.

After eventually getting clean and climbing out of the shower, we discovered Alex had gone, hopefully to make up with Matt before the long ride to the next city. We changed into clean pyjamas, well, I did, Jack put on clean clothes, before throwing everything back into our bags and racing down to the bus, to make it on board literally a minute before call time. Matt didn’t look as mad as he could have been, so either he was relieved he didn’t have to track us down or Alex had done something right in apologising.

Curling up in Jack’s bunk, it felt like I’d never left. It felt like home. There was no other way to describe it. Even the stale smell of sweat and sex was comforting, as gross as that may sound, maybe because they were just so... Jack. The pictures along the wall may have changed a little, there was one of him and his siblings that I’d never seen before, but otherwise it was the same as always. Different bus, same bunk, same guy. Even the picture of him standing in front of the house from Home Alone that I’d had laminated for him was still here. I knew that if I reached out and took it down, there’d be a picture of me, either stuck on the back, or on the wall behind. Hidden from view unless you knew where to look. Kinda like Jack. Most people only saw the party guy exterior. Those who got to really know him, know there’s so much more to him than that. Fiercely protective of those he loves, respectful, honest. Like I said before, I’ve known him for 7 years and he’s never lied to me. It’s like he doesn’t know how.
He’s laughing at me right now, telling me I’m thinking too hard, that I look too much like Alex right now. Oh well, it could be worse. I could be Alex. It just makes Jack laugh harder when I voice this thought out loud. He crawls into the bunk next to me, and clings to me like the spider monkey that he really is. Luckily, he’s awake enough that we can shift around until we’re both comfortable.
“I don’t want you to ever leave ever again.” This comes from the face that has currently tucked itself into my neck.
“I’m not yet, not for a while.” I tip my head and press a kiss to his still damp hair.
“But you will. You always do.”
“I have to honey. You know that I would stay if I could.”
“Stupid US Government. We should just hire you, and then you wouldn’t have to leave.”
“I wouldn’t have to leave if I got married either, but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen any time soon.” I started to stroke his hair at this point. It always puts Jack to sleep, no matter how awake he is. “Time for bed honey. Get some sleep, we’ve got a huge day waiting for us in the next town.”
“Mmmmk.” He was passed out within minutes. What I had failed to realise in my mentioning marriage, was that the next town, was Vegas.
