Hello 2011!

Inoshi here [waves] and I hope everyone had a nice holiday season and a Happy New Year.

I know I always talk about Marvel in my entries, usually giving my two cents about recent issues, which I will continue to do so, but...I'm lazy at the moment and won't really go in-depth (or try not to) for this entry.  Mostly because I'm behind and I can't  ( Read more... )

Yup yup! Its like... when people go 'Tony is a control freak' and 'he micromanages others because he can't control what happens to him' and other stuff like that... it always strikes me as a bit strange because, while that is correct Tony is also unique in the sense that unlike other 'RL' control freaks he can have an actual real and BIG effect on things! He's a control freak, who actually can control so judging him by the same brush as everyone else is really rather hypocritical... I mean we don't usually judge superheroes by the same set of RL morals, right? Batman's reckless endangerment of minors? Spiderman lying to his family and using fraud-ish means for his job? Superman using his powers to gain advantage over non-powered competitors (aka Lois)? etc etc... Then why does Tony seem to be the only super judged by RL standards and then bashed for it?! D:

Yeah... I was sort of -_-; at the sudden change in who had what gems... Mostly because I was all set with Tony having the reality gem and his not using it during the whole Civil War and aftermath fiasco, being a bit like a test of strength or something...

I'm gonna put off reading those scans until I can read the issue proper BUT OMG! It is so good to find an actual apology!!! Though I wish the editors at marvel actually did their jobs, you know? Does anyone remember that Tony is mindwiped? (How does he remember about the gems in Avengers, anyway?) That e is supposed to have a giant glowlight in his chest which needs periodic recharging?!!! What's the status of extremis right now, anyway?

Uh-huh... Before we found out that apparently Reed and Tony have already been born... I was sort of thinking this was pre-kids for both of them... mean, IIRC Nathaniel ends up becoming some sort of time-travelling Magnificent Bastard and well I thought atleast the car crash was real... So I was thinking that they sort of skip a few year between the 50s and to some time before the kids are supposed to be born (the 70s as of now) thus solving the problem of the telescoping timeline... :( Oh well, maybe Howard gets back on the same day he left and ends up not faking this car-crash after all?

You know, I sort of think the mini is supposed to end with the end of the Brotherhood and the formation of the modern agency SHIELD... How cool would it be for Howard Stark and Nat Richards to be the secret founding fathers?! (I think in the RL 60s Tony was supposed to have that... Also the one who *appointed* Nick Fury to his role... Which made all that SHIELD betrayal stuff in the 80s even worse in context! D:)

You know..I've been sitting here typing and re-typing trying to come up with a valid reason for all the Tony bashing. To be honest, I really have no idea why he gets so much flack as he does. I think it may be because he's just so human in comparison to the ideals of the standard hero. Despite the money and genius mind...at the end of the day, Tony is a regular guy. He has no powers, but unlike Batman, he's not trained in martial arts or an ace detective. To be honest...for being so brilliant...he really makes stupid mistakes. But that's why he's such a complex character, imo.

I read somewhere that people usually insult or put down people for assets secretly reflected in themselves. Whether or not that's true I'm not sure, but thinking of it in that sense...I think Tony is judged because so many people see themselves in him or know someone like him. Deep down they want him to be better because Tony is a person to never give up <3

As for Tony's mindwipe....[sighs] -_-' not even going to touch that one. I know there was an issue in Captain America where Tony was stating why he never revealed Bucky as Winter Soldier to the others...and I was like....HOW do you even remember? But hey...the apology was still somewhat generalized. Honestly, I think Tony is uncomfortable with his mind-wipe so he acts like it never happened until he gets caught off guard.

I would love for Howard and Nathan to be the ones who founded modern SHIELD. I have no clue about early Ironman stuff...you make me want to read essentials XD
