Actually, I can't tell you what a weird fandom trip I've been on recently. Since I pretty much dropped off grid for the past 3 months or so - chirping here and there every once in awhile, I thought it would be fun to point out that yes - I still am in fact reading Marvel...sorta. I blame Bendis! After Avengers #10 (Despite the Steve/Tony mom and dad moment)...I was just pretty disappointed with the issue. Especially after how fantastic the previous one was! Then with other issues that month failing to grab my interest, I placed Marvel on the back burner for a month...because face it...there is only so much Steve/Tony fics you can read until there are no more left...and hoped that next month would be better.
My interest started to shift towards the Ultimate-verse since that's where the good stuff was happening! The Death of Spiderman event is interesting...the Ultimates vs. Avengers is interesting...heck the Ultimate Cap mini was interesting! Then come Avengers #11 and my interest in Marvel flat-lined.
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
So, I shifted towards more BBC TV and got into "Merlin" in addition to "Torchwood" with BOTH having a plethora of fandom, fanfics and fanart! [hears holy music] So yeah....I dropped Marvel stone cold for a bit - even to the point I had no idea what was happening in current canon - wow...I know. But then...out of nowhere...you know what pulled me back so hard I saw stars? The Young Avengers.... I can't believe I forgot how freaking awesome they are. I decided to check out the "Children's Crusade" mini that was supposed to expand on why Ironlad returned. Wow...I freaking adored Billy before, but now he's among my fav characters just cause. Seeing him be all flirty on a date night was fun and seeing him grown up as sorcerer supreme was a trip. Though I will admit (and sorry Doctor Strange fans)...I like his wiccan costume better the the SS outfit - just saying.
So next post it'll be back to normal with Marvel comic/cartoon/movie and whatever else reviews in-depth since hey...Ironman 501-502 were pretty sweet. Ultimate Spider-man has been rocking it, Avenger's Children's Crusade #5 has the holy mother of perfect retcon and reveal! Plus Fear Itself is on to a pretty strong start. \(O__O)/ Irony of irony here - Steve got hit by a brick....I remember threatening him with that before.....[<----Still hasn't forgiven Steve for the "pay for sins" spiel he gave Tony] The art was beautiful though. Perfect....
One last note - Avengers Earth's Mightest Heroes....Can I say how much I LOVE that version of Tony. The way he and Thor fight over technology was great! There is something about how he's portrayed that makes me wish the writers of the series would oversee the comic line. I still love how no one really respects Tony, and he just takes it going (-_-); saaaaaaaah
