Inoshi is bored. Or maybe it's because I'm still angsty about Avengers #9 and it'll be a while before we get #10. Plus the fact thanks to IIM #500 my faith in Fraction heading up FEAR is a little more then shaky. Anyways, I had considered drawing something, but mainly I'm too lazy to do things I have in my head, so I decided to look at my Noir

Also I really really want to see that scene with the dress. So would he still be dressed as a granny or as a young thing who other guys would hit on (for Tony to feel jealous over, maybe?), this time?
And Tony could totally survive the plane crash by magic! Wasn't that 'magic' lance thing worked into his heart at the end of the mini? It could have some hitherto hidden properties! (Errr.... Does Tony being in a plane crash, and the 'Bucky survived' thing mean that both Tony and Steve are eventually going to be unfrosted in modern times, or am I just assuming too much?)

I think this actually works more than fine as an opening... Pepper's rejected draft and her thoughts after that do a pretty good job of explaining the set-up and scenario, without feeling extraneous or over-expository. I really don't think any more clarification is needed on that front even for someone not familiar with Iron Man Noir... It's easy to infer what roles Tony, Pepper, Rhodey, SHIELD all play in this AU from just that bit.
So this just means LOVE LOVE LOVE!! Need to write this ASAP! :DD

As for the dress scene, that's actually something that would happen after this initial fanfic is done. But the cross-dressing is really meant to be more comical then convincing because honestly - when Steve disguised himself as Granny the first time...I'm pretty sure I went "And no one notices a 6ft tall old lady built like a line-backer..." Then Bucky (who has been retconed in 616 to actually be 19-ish) comes dressed in a sailor suit (he wore back in the comics)and Tony looses it and starts to laugh his ass off.
IIRC, I don't think Tony had a piece of that trident work itself into his heart in the comic. I believe you are remembering a fanfic where the trident did keep Tony alive, but in the actual comics...I remember he overloaded it and everything went BOOM! Then Namor found him and we cut to hospital scene. Anyways - back on track...surviving the plane crash bit is speculation on my part. I think eventually maybe Steve finds his way into the future, but how or if Tony does depends. There are many alternatives I could work with - using a few canon source.
One alternative is that Steve and Bucky blow up - Tony is angsty and tries to search for them or a way to bring them back. A search through Egypt uncovers a mystical golden chariot [waggles eyebrows] that transports him to the future. Ensue wibble moment when the two re-unite. OR there is the route via-SHIELD mini that we saw...Infinity forumula anyone? Tony takes charge of SHIELD - this is not how the world ends spiel - finds Bucky and saves him Winter Soldier-ness and uncovers Cap from ice. OR Tony just never does end up in the future and he ended up saving Steve and Bucky - then they eventually create the Avengers. BUT - as I said...all speculation and something way into the future [laughs] or pretty much another fic entirely. If you will, think of this fic as the Ironman 2 to the upcoming Avengers and we have some semblance of plot...I think.
This fic sort of deals with [checks outline]the initial prompt which is like "the road to Captain America" - sorta. The goal is that by the end of this fic, it's going to lay the groundwork for the plot bunnies above and the reason for Captain America...I think if I have all my plot threads organized. Errrr...everything is still a work in progress, so who knows if I'll keep it or not...[sweatdrops]
