Veronica Mars: 10
WIPs: None started this year.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
I didn't really "predict" anything, although I would say that 16 fics is probably slightly above average for me.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2006?
21 Jump Street, which I'd never even seen when 2006 started. It's all
monimala's fault. I also didn't anticipate writing any Pirates of the Caribbean fic. I enjoyed the first movie, but it certainly didn't inspire fic. Anyone see a common theme between these two fandoms?
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
I'm really quite proud of
Do Not Pass Go. It's a Veronica Mars fic that incorporates my three favorite characters to write--Veronica, Lamb, and Weevil--but not in any romantic sense. I think it's probably the closest I've ever come to really capturing bitchy, hardass Veronica. And as fun as it is to write about shirtless Lamb, it was even more satisfying to have her lay it on the line about his failings.
But
Veronica Mars and the Vagabond Squib was totally the most fun to write. :)
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
I didn't take too many risks, except perhaps for the 21JS piece, which not only was a fandom essentially no one cares about, but also had slashy undertones, which I've never written.
It didn't really teach me much except that I seriously don't care what fandom thinks. I write for me, and maybe a few select people. Everything else is gravy. You don't like it, move along.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Mostly, I just want to write something other than fanfic. I know I'll still write fic, but it's going to be hard to get that novel published without ever starting it.
And I really need to finish effing
Unholy Alliance one of these damn days.
