Some upcoming stuff that's got me thinking...

Batman #666--Basically? Damien Wayne becomes Batman and does a deadly dance with the Devil. I probably won't even read this, but the concept alone held some annoyance for me. Now they wanna bring the concept of Damien back? After killing him...what? Two issues past introduction?

At first, he amused me, 'cause here's a kid who's kicked Robin's tail by using his own psych-out against him: "Oooh, lookee me, I'm a lil' squirt who can't possibly be any more dangerous than I appear"... and of course, Robin is trying not to hurt him and desperately trying not to appear jealous in wake of Wayne's biological child. They could have gone somewhere with it. They didn't. Now, it seems, they wanna hail this itty-bitty pizza slice of cannon by dedicating an entire future-verse to it. I'm sorry, but from what little we've seen of Damien, he is NOT Batman material! No way is that lil' slime half as worthy as Terry McGuinnis. Just no way. Terry really hasn't been brought into comics cannon yet, but he's still the only guy I can see as the second Batman.

Ok, so maybe I *can* see Tim as the next Batman (Geoff's kinda made sure that we can picture it, at least), but Tim becoming Batman doesn't appear to be a good thing since Tim knows exactly why he's avoiding it and desperately keeps trying to do so. Tim becoming Batman implies that he has turned his back on his former promises to himself and has taken on all of the worst of Bruce's psychological issues. Terry, however, is not so legacy obsessed as the cannon bat-boys. For him, the suit is about striking fear into the hearts of criminals and doing it his way. "His way" thankfully, includes having a sense of humor and not holding himself responsible for the sun, moon, and stars.

On a completely unrelated note...for those of you who doubted the true existence of Captain Carrot, Check This Out!
