Pick a character and I will give and explain some ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them. Any and all characters welcome ( including ones I haven't written but might know about...)

2. Tim is the most like Bruce, but he is most definitely not Bruce. True, he is calculating and urbane, a master detective with a knack for mind-games. It's also true that he will sometimes lose himself in work, and cut himself off from everyone when he's not thinking things through on the relationship end, but Tim knows how to love people. Sometimes he even knows the right thing to say. He has a dry sense of humor, but it's visible. You know he's cracked a joke when he's cracked it. He doesn't leave you wondering. He knows how to have fun, relax, and be young. It's just that the opportunity is rare, and he can only really do it with people he trusts. He might be Batman someday. He's got the history, the obsession, and the skill... but he will never be Bruce.
3. Tim is a very stealthy and obsessive lil' stalker. One of the best. This would be downright creepy, except for the fact that there is so much genuine love and admiration entangled in his stalkery. He had a powerful and hero-worshiping love for Dick from afar, and it became more real and personal as he got to know him after becoming Robin. This continues to extend into his other relationships. Tim is either out of touch with his friends completely, or so completely knowledgeable about their business (and their hardrives) that it's scary. He's rarely in-between.
4. Tim manages an odd balance between chivalry and gender equality. He doesn't like to hit girls, but knows better than to go easy on a perp just because she's female. He likes to try to do normal romantic things in a relationship, dating, dinner, flowers... but he knows that such things are more luxury than necessity. He can be a nerd and a bit of a dork at times, but he is secure not just in his masculinity, but in his humanity, and appreciates strong and soft girls alike. He doesn't really think of himself as having a type, but it would seem that some subconscious part of him leaves the redheads for Dick.
5. Tim is eloquent and technical, but not snooty. He's grown up in an upper-middle-class environment with a small host of friends that sit at the geek table. He sometimes has trouble expressing his feelings, but it's not for lack of words, yet he can explain things simply as needed. He will, however, sometimes fall into very technical babble when he's "in the zone" on a case, or in the privacy of his own head.
6. Tim doesn't really expect to be anyone's priority. It's not so much that he doubts his worth as a person, but he doesn't really expect to be important to people compared to other people. He knows Bruce loves him. He knows Bruce loves Dick more (He just really hopes that Bruce doesn't love Damian more, because that would just hurt.) This idea is, of course, a remnant of his childhood and the fact that Jack and Janet so rarely gave him the time of day.
And... yeah. That's about as coherent as it's gonna get without going into various relationships in cannon and fic and what I think about all of them... 'cause we certainly haven't the time... merely the inclination. ^_~
