Here is what the master bath currently looks like. It's painted (sloppily, by me) in Behr's Fudge Bar. It's too dark for my tastes and I want to repaint it. I've left it this color for a year and can't take it for much longer. :) I need more light in there!
Since our house is small and has an open floor plan, I'm pretty picky about the colors I use flowing from room to room and not using *too* many different paint colors. Right now, 2 rooms are in the same pale blue, 2 rooms are in the same pale green, 2 rooms are in the same vanilla, and 1 room is all vanilla with a pale purple accent wall. My first thought was to repaint the master bath in a pale gray, to stick with the other cool colors, and to eventually decorate our sunroom (which currently has no decoration or color scheme) the same shade of gray, because I'm neurotic like that and need some consistency in my paint colors. :)
Problem #1
This is the master bedroom that leads directly into the master bathroom, so since we can see into both rooms, I'd like for the colors to compliment one another.
Does light gray look ok next to this shade of green?
Problem #2(a.k.a. a lot of potential problems wrapped up in one)
Eventually, probably next summer, this bathroom is my big project. I'm planning to replace the counter top, the tiles, the tub, mirrors, lighting, and all fixtures. The issue is that I want to change all the metal fixtures (including the edging on the mirrors mirrors) to a brushed nickle. Would the gray of the brushed nickle look terrible next to a light gray paint? I'd keep our linens all white, but the vanity would also stay the dark/medium dark wood color, so would that clash, as well? Should I just chuck the vanity and go for all white to look better with the gray? Or should I just save the paint project for when we do the bathroom makeover?
To give you an idea, here is the type of fixtures we'd be installing, but in a brushed nickle.
