*sigh* After having Wednesday and Thursday off for almost a year, my boss went and changed my schedule this week. Now my days off are Monday and Tuesday. Of course, this week I had plans for Thursday night-dinner for my anniversary (5 years OMG). Got it worked out though. I'm not 100% thrilled with my new schedule. Last week I worked Fri8-4, Sat-2-10, Sun-8-4, Mon11-7, Tue11-7 and off W-TH because someone was on vacation. I was hoping against all odds that my new shedule would be something like that. No dice. Now my work week is Wed2-10, Thu-11-7, Fri-2-10, Sat-2-10, Sun 8-4, off Mon-Tue. What I have been asking and begging and pleading for for the past year is to not work until 10 on school nights. Specfically I have requested to work the 11-7 shift on week days because it works out perfectly for what I need. I wake Riley up and get her to school by 9, come home and shower and get ready to be at work for 11, and then I get off at 7 in time to come home and fix dinner and spend some time with her. The reason why is that on the nights I close and Nathan is working, because he works overnight, Riley has to go to inlaws. This means that during the school year on the days we are both working I wake her up at 8:15-8:30 to drop her off at school for 9. Then in-laws pick her up from school at 1:45 and I go in to work at 2, not seeing her in between. Then I get out of work around 10:15, pick her up, bring her home, give her a bath, and tuck her into bed around 11. So basically I see her for an hour. And then she is a fuss pot the next day because she didn't get enough sleep. BUT the good hting is that now with me just working one closing week night shift the above scenario will only happen every 3rd week. With my old schedule it would happen 2 weeks in a row. Monday of one week then Tuesday of the next week and then we would get a week off. So, I will be thankful for what I did get rather than resentful for what I didn't get.
This place we are going for our anniversary is called The Grease Rack. I hd never heard of it but Nathan heard of it through someone he works with. So I went on-line and looked at some reviews and even read a passage in a book about it and sounds so cool! It's in Newport, which if you are not from around here I will tell you that Newport is redneck as fuck. As in, the county high school's mascot is the Fighting Cocks and that's pretty much what they do there. Cock fights and chop shops. Woo-wee! But this place is supposed to have the best steaks anywhere around here. All of the reviews back that up. It used ot be a gas station/automotive parts shop. Then it was a bar. Now it's a resturant. It's been run by the same family since the 60s-when it was still a gas station. It is now run by all women with the chef and boss being the original owner's widow. It was described as a drab colored cinder block building with no windows on the front of the building and a solid stell door at the end of a gravel road that you have to know where it is to find it. You enter into an ante-room and ring a bell and someone unlocks the door form the inside and lets you in. Some of the reviews said it was a throw-back to prohibition days and feeling like you are entering a strip club. I think it sounds awesome! I love places that are a little bit different. Relly I don't care about linen table cloths and napkins, crystal glasses, or candle light. I care about good food. Lol. But they are only open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday which is why we had planned to go next week, because I thought we were both going to be off on Thursday.
