So, this being my first welcome week ever at a big university it has been interesting to say the least (so far, two days to go before classes start).
First night here we can here guys yelling from a few doors down and I just know they had to be drunk. I mean come on...welcome week at MSU can't be anything but drinking and partying.
All the meetings have been pretty boring and the food has been alright. I'm trying to make myself try something new everyday. My way of learning to eat new things because I'm so picky.
Today had the be the craziest yet. I was shopping at the mall with my room mate, and two others, when a thunderstorm hit. We had to run to the car because the rain was coming down so hard. We were going to make a quick pit-stop at Best Buy to get somethings and us girls waited in the car. Not 5 minutes later and we get a call from one of the guys in the store saying we need to get inside because there is a tornado warning in effect. We jump out of the car and have to take our sandels off to run into the store. The water is so high by this time that it completely covers our feet. We make it inside but not before becoming totally drenched. The employees ushered everyone to the back of the store and we ended up waiting there for 5-10 minutes. At one point the wind was so strong we could see the rain through the windows in the front blowing horizontally.
When we're finally allowed to leave we head back to the car and the parking lot is still full of water that covers our feet so there was no way we were going to be getting dry anytime soon. As we pull onto the main road back to campus we can see cars ahead of us stalling because the water is so high. We find ways to drive around the main road by driving through parking lots and such. After reaching the dorm we hurry upstairs to our room because we remembered that our windows were still open and our computers are right next to them (luckily they were perfectly dry as you can see by me being able to post this).
I know that some people have it a lot worse than us right now and I don't mean to sound whiney or anything. I just wanted to voice what happened during my welcome week.
BTW, partys are still ongoing tonight even after all the bad weather. Gotta love college.
GO GREEN!!! GO WHITE!!! lol XD
