Tales of Destiny ps2 'little' review

Apr 17, 2007 19:44

I played it! Tales of Destiny and I was like drooling over Leon Midorikawa Hikaru every second since he appeared XDDDD The style of arts is now close to Tales of Rebirth and Tales of Abyss, yet it still looks charming to me
The story was a bit different even though they still stick to the plot.
-At the beginning, instead of seeing Stan sleep, he's already caugt and was about to be killed by the officers when the monsters attacked
-Rutee and Mary was on the ship(?) or whatever you call it, I forgot it's name too, wanting to acquire Dymlos but was a little late because Stan already took Dymlos
-Instead of laying on the ground after using the escape pod when he then helped by Chelsea/Woodrow, Stan was drowning in the lake then make a pact with Dymlos and vaporize the entire lake
-We didn't need to find a missing passport since after we helped Rutee and Mary, we will get a passport since we went back to Janos from the other way

------------------------

From the ps1 game I was not really sure of the characters personality, only knowing that Stan is kind, Leon is ignorant, and so on. BUT, after playing the ps2 one, I pity Dymlos and the others around Stan, exclude Woodrow(Garr) and Mary, since Stan REALLY looks like a dumb total innocent.

Example:
-When we were asked to search for Chelsea and finally found her weeping for not being able to go back home, she didn't admit that she's lost or weeping and told Stan that she was talking to the old tree.
Stan: So, what did you talk with the old tree
Chelsea: Huh? Oh... That's....
Stan: But it's really great. I myself can't talk to trees (but you have and talk to a talking sword..)
Chelsea: .....
If I'm not mistaken, Woodrow should be holding himself not to burst out laughing XD;;

and

-When they're captured by Leon and was brought to the King when the news of Atamoni came so abruptly, Stan offered his help and said how he always want to join the imperial army (I forgot the name, Saint Guard or something..) In logic/my opinion, I think it's okay to offered help BUT I don't think you should say that you always want to join the army when you yourself is a prisoner ^^;

And there's really many chats where we could enjoy Stan's stupid antics. One of it that I loves is the chat when Stan went "Hey, Leon! Leon!" and Leon quickly ran away. Typical of Stan, not knowing the boy's discomfort, Stan chased Leon, leaving Rutee to wonder how can Stan stands Leon and even literally bug the boy. XD and in a second I found myself smirking like a cheesire cat

And almost in every chats we will either laughing and/or felt pity to Dymlos. I a little forgot about what they're talking about, but at the beginning Dymlos even said, "Hey, I'm starting to regret myself having you as my master..."

Another funny conversation is when we retrieved Clemente. When we got to the place to retrive Clemente, we asked Philia to wait at the entrace since she can't fight or so Leon believes But when we reached Clemente, and talking about Clemente's master, Philia appeared and Clemente said that she's his master. Then we went back to the entrance. One of the characters, Stan if I'm not mistaken, asked how did she able to walk all the way to Clemente's place. When she about to explain, suddenly a monster appeared and she went "Philia Bomb!" Everyone, astonished by the act, stared at Philia who explained about the weapon she invented so she could battle with everyone

Dymlos: ...don't you think she's strong enough even without Clemente?
Clemente: ..........................
me: LOL

------------------------

You can see and drool over the characters pictures and screencaps here or just see my ramblings about some of them:

And I really can't wait to Get Johnny Shiden (I forgot his name in the english version, but he's the guy who attacks with his instrument and singing which always sent me and my brothers ROFLing)
And I ROFL once again when I saw the screencap of his battle:

ROfL What the hell with that super extra sized character??? Oh, I really can't wait to play him *smirked*

And Lilith! She's included in the main characters! LOLSteakFlareWTH I want to play her too XDDDD

I didn't know Chaltier would be soooo cute! O___O And he's really loyal to Leon even though the boy will consequently scold him for talking too much to Leon's liking XDD~

------------------------

And okay, about the system. I don't have the screencaps, so maybe I'll confuse you with this. If you want to spare your brain from getting confused, you can skip this -.-; But for some of them you can refer to the previous screencap of Johnny.

Just like Tales of Rebirth, there's no MP anymore, but there's a bar which allows us to decide what action we will/can choose(you can see the circular bar at Johnny's screencap though). The techniques, instead of using mp, will show us how many bars it needs to the the technique in act. Usually, the bar will begin in 2 out of the maximum. After using the 2 bars, the gauge will re-charged quickly to 3. It continued until the maximum until it will charged back to 2. Ex: 2-3-4-5-2

Different from the ps1 version, we can't change swordian masters' weapons. But, from the equipment option, when we choose the swordian, we'll brought to swordian device, where we're given option of what to level up from the swordian (attack, mind and whatsoeverIforgot) The swordian device will only able to get to the next level when you already masters the required ones from the previous level.

There's also the 「Realize」 (I'm not sure of the spelling though -.-; ) This system allows you to upgrade your equipments using lenses. There's also items called 「Material」, when you realize a material, it will become an accesory ^o^

And there's a gauge under the characters HP (the blue one, red gauge is the HP gauge), in which it became full the gauge will shine. When it does, by pressing L1 while attacking a certain enemy, the character will unleash a special technique (or maybe an ultimate one? Not sure...)

------------------------

There's also a way to get extra money ^_^ There's usually a travelling merchant in each town(the pne in Janos is the guy in the inn who stands near the door at the corner) These merchants will ask you if you will help them and gave you tasks. The first one is to buy an armor and give it to the guy at the next town. Yeah, we'll need to buy the things first, but then, compared to the money we spent for the thing, they will usually pay us with a nice sum of money too ^.^

Yet in the dungeon is really confusing, everything looks the same that we won't know where the hell are we @___@;;;

random things:
-wow, we can kick the rocks on the worldmap but it refused to get into the sea lol, just ignore that, I'm just being random
-there's a capsule machine in Darillshade's Inn where you can get a random item with 200g (I tried once an got a Holy Bottle ~.~ )
-is it just me or most of the battle screencap on the site which I see seemed to have Leon in there?? XD~
-check every corner of the town for you might get items (usually at cupboards or boxes) I even found an item in a toilet ^__^;;;;;;;

I think that's all I could say now, since I just finished taking Clemente so I couldn't talk about it further.

I want to finish it as soon as possible after finishing my damn assignments so I can play KH Re:Chain of Memories next and followed by KH2: FinalMix+ XDD~
