HEREI walked away from the building, the seemingly endless meetings coming to an end for now. I was satisfied with... certain aspects after speaking to the one known as Hamilton. My business with them was, certainly, far from over, yet

One eyebrow raised in confusion, since despite all her powers she was - indeed - little compared to me. I waited as long as possible before she answered my query... her energies were odd, displaced, as if...
Was she not a part of the group that had died only to be reborn?
"I dunno. Maybe cause somebody put me here. Then chose me to fulfill some prophecy. You know that whole Slayer gig. But the me bein' here, that's somethin' I ain't figured out yet. Only thing I can say is that the Powers that Be wanted me here, so... Here I am. Or did you mean, here. As in right here where we are?"
Her words were quite confusing to me, yet I sensed she was, indeed, attempting to reach out to me in some manner.
"Here. Now," I answered back in a clipped tone, curiously. "Did the vampires send you? Perhaps Wesley wished you to end my life?" It would not be a surprise, and yet... it still ached within me. I had been betrayed many times over by these mortals, and yet somehow they would not let me go.
Let me live.
"If you are attempting to glean information from me - yes, I went to the Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart. They wish me to sign paperwork that will bind me to them forever in exchange for the return of my powers."
I paused, watching her expression.
"Is... that what you wished to know?"

I took a drag, raisin' my eyebrow and lookin' at her.
"First off..." I exhaled, tappin' the ashes from the end of my cigarette to the ground. "Do I look like somebody who takes orders? I mean, come on now, I know you musta heard about the legend of Faith. Rogue Slayer, evil, prison. It's what they tell all the good little Slayers to keep 'em in line."
I smirked, takin' another drag. This shit was too fun.
"And you can chill Big Blue, I ain't here to off nobody. Just tryin' to get some answers." I shrugged. "That's it. Ain't nobody gotta die here."
"If you are attempting to glean information from me - yes, I went to the Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart. They wish me to sign paperwork that will bind me to them forever in exchange for the return of my powers. Is... that what you wished to know?"
Oh man, this ain't good. Not good at all. She signs on at Evil Inc and they hook her back up with her powers, we're all fucked. Well, maybe not, I could probably still take her.
"And the prize for worst idea of the year goes to Evil Inc." I laughed, takin' another drag and flippin' my smoke off to the side. "Gotta say man, I figured you to be smarter than that. Don't you know by now that Team Angel is the best place to be? Powers or no powers. Everybody knows Wolfram and Hart ain't nothin' but trouble. Hell, I had my own run in with 'em. Tried to get me to off Angel. Offered me a bunch of shit to do it."
I shrugged, lookin' at her seriously.
"I took their offer too. I was in a bad place then. But Soulboy woke me up. Made me realize I was fightin' for the wrong side. You sign on with them and dude, you'll be their puppet. Doin' whatever they tell ya to do. Yeah, you'll get your powers back, but you don't strike me as somebody's puppet."
I was tryin' to choose my words carefully. When the hell did I get all advicey? Damn.
"Thought you was like some God-King or whatever. You sure you really wanna be some kinda minion for the evil law firm now?"

"I know," I whispered carefully, memories from Fred filling me just as the new ones I had created told me the same. The Wolf, the Ram, and the Hart were intent on using me for their own purposes, rather than truly assist me. Perhaps the only one who might have aided me - my Qwa'ha Xahn - was trapped there as well beneath their paperwork and laws that would bind him.
Maybe the one known as Hamilton would help... he had at least been respectful...

Interesting that the Slayer would see through the lies presented. "No, I am not," I answered her, realizing that she and I had more in common than I had thought previously. "Just as you are not... you sought to have power to destroy the vampire, yet it did not work as you had wished." I paused as I stepped closer to her.
"Just as I realized..."
"Thought you was like some God-King or whatever. You sure you really wanna be some kinda minion for the evil law firm now?"
"I am no one's minion!" I practically screamed, then collected the energies within me. "I... I do not wish this, yet what am I to do? Return to the vampire where they assume I have murdered their comrade? Stand before those vermin and wait as they destroy what life I have left within me so that Wesley and Fred might feel....... might feel better? Without me to interfere?"
I added softly the question that had plagued me since our return, "Without me?"

I cocked my head to the side. What the fuck was goin' on here? What did she realize?
I raised my eyebrow, watchin' her closely. Can't take no chances.

"Woah. Chill yo. Nobody's sayin' anything about standin' before nobody and I sure as hell know I ain't said nothin' about destroyin' your life. Man, you are trippin' me out here."
I took out another cigarette and lit it. This chick was totally stressin' me out. Thanks for countin' on me Wes. I always get stuck doin' the fucked up shit. Guess it's their payback for all the shit I did. Stick Faith on it, she's tryin' to redeem herself.
I'm like that kid Mikey in those cereal commercials. Give it to Faith, she'll do it.
I rolled my eyes, refocusin' on Big Blue. She was lookin' all sad now. What the hell. Somebody give this girl a Prozac.
"Without me?"
Damn. Ain't really sure why, but that shit kinda got to me.
Maybe I really am goin' all soft, cause I felt for her. Guess I kinda related or somethin'.
I took a drag and studied her while I exhaled the smoke into the air and ran my free hand through the tangled curls in my hair.
"Look man, it sucks. Trust me, I know the whole outsider gig. You're different so they treat you like you ain't one of them." I shrugged, givin' her a small nod. "Been there. Story of my life. Just promise me you won't go all Norman Bates and try to off everyone just cause they ain't treatin' you like one of 'em."
I laughed a little, takin' another drag before tossin' the smoke to the ground.
"Just give 'em time. They'll learn to accept you. Hell, took 'em a while to let me in too. Especially after that whole evil gig."
