I walked back on inside, figurin' Faith would follow me, and sighed as I took another drag. Not much had changed 'round here since we'd gone out t'get some fresh air... so t'speak. I did notice the door t'the office had been shut tight, and so's I made my way on over and opened it up without askin', seein' Percy and Sexy yabberin' away ( Read more... )

"And I'm sure that both Spike and Faith are here to help. Correct?"

No, they're just here to watch us play Clue. After what happened with Illyria, I can understand Wesley wanting to make sure that we're all on the same page, but he doesn't have to remind me that Spike wants to help. I know that. I've seen that there's a lot of good in him despite a lot of his annoying behavior, and I think I trust him.

I can't say the same for Faith. My memories of her aren't of friendly, happy times, and I don't think I'll ever forget what she did to us. I can forgive her, but my mind's too sharp for the forgetting part. People make mistakes, and no matter how big, if they want to overcome them, they can. If Faith is serious about finding redemption, then she's in the right place. With time and effort, we could learn to get along without yelling at each other--if she decides to stick around.

"Yeah. Help. Seein' as how you and I helped so soddin' much last time there was a brilliant suicidal plan, right Wes?"

I'm not going to get started on the plan to take out the Black Thorn. They already know what I think of the things that they tried to do. It was dumb in their usual heroic way, and in spite of everyone's lack of common sense, I was proud of them.

Spike sounded bitter, but there was nothing to do except let it go. Angel gave him a choice, and Spike made the decision to fight. They're both undead and well because they kicked enough ass to balance the scales.

"Yeah, pet, you gonna stay? Help us all out, be the big superhero and all?"

I'd hate to admit it, but we could use Faith on our side now that we have a law firm and a god against us. Angel and Spike couldn't take her out when they tried to fight her, but Faith has her slayer strength. Sooner or later, things are going to get ugly, it would be better for us to accept Faith into the team.

“Sure why not. Can’t really say I’m keen on the whole suicide mission or whatever, but the superhero thing? Count me in. It’s my job ain’t it?”

"Good, we need you now." I nodded and raised my hand up to my shoulder so that I could give Spike's a gentle caress. We gained another warrior immediately after we lost Gunn. I know that I should be hopeful about that, and if I can't manage hopeful I should be able to pull off relieved, but I lost a friend today. Illyria could just as easily double back here and pick off someone else that I care about.

"Now that that's out of the way, I guess I'll be the one to tell you guys what's going on. I had a vision. Illyria's at Wolfram & Hart and it looks like she's going to be working for them."

I'm adjusting to my new role as the bearer of bad news. First I had to tell them why they were back, then I had the vision, this is cake compared to my first explanataion.

"Wes thinks that we have to examine Gunn's body and question Harmony on what she saw. I was just about to go talk to her when you two barged in."
