I picked up some lovely fabric yesterday to make stuff. But now I am in a bind. Because it would mean that I would need to make a completely new outfit by Mic-Winter Coronation. Which will take a lot of work and time.
What it entails.
- Make a effigy corset or a dorothea corset
- put steel boning in the farthingale
- make a set of ruffs
- new chemise/shirt
- forepart skirt
- overskirt
- doublet with hanging sleeves
- sleeves
- french hood
- partlet
- girdle
The slightly easier but less wow garb would be
- make dorothea corset (as I have a pattern somewhere already
- steele into the farthingale
- make a highnecked shirt/chemise that has ruffles on the neck and sleeves
- use the forepart and sleeves that S made me for my birthday - they are in a camel colours broacade-like fabric
- make overskirt and doublet with hanging sleeves from the dark green cotton velveteen that I have.
- make partlet
- girdle
Make the dress in a style that I don't have to wear a hat or head covering.
The more I look at the list, the more I like the second one, just because it is less effort. The only thing I am not fussed about is the warmth factor.
While the top version would take a lot longer, (plus it's a pink dress, yes I said it..PINK!) It has the added bonus of warmth. The fabric I would be using is silk/wool for the overskirt and doublet and hanging sleeves. Doublet and sleeves lined in silk. The forepart is silk/cotton and the partlet is a silk/linen.
While the other will be warm hopefully because of the layers.
I really need to take some photo's of the fabric and get some suggestions.
