Ok guys. You know the drill. This same thing happened to me three years ago.
I stayed then, and I'm staying now.
Yes I know that we are closer now, Houma is in Terrebonne Parish. Just to see how close, go to google maps and look up Terrebonne Parish, St. Mary Parish.
Ray thinks we'll be fine here in Houma and Mom and Dad are staying in Morgan City.
AGain still don't have internet so I'm sitting outside of our closed down Starbucks, listening to the guys next door board up and logged on the net outside. If I have to, I can come here for internet access and my manager will let us through the doors for ice. The filtering system can be shut back on IF the power doesn't go out. Which it will. Trust me.
But I'm prepared. I have candles, lighters, matches, flashlight, nonperishables, a cooler, and if it turns for the worse, then we'll head up to Morgan City (non that it will make much of a difference) so we can be with my family if we have to. MC will also open up the municipal center and high school if they have to, which is good since there will be less people. We'll be driving the truch, silver Toyota Tundra. Mom also has a gas stove and Grandpa has a generator. But we'll only be travelling there if NEED BE.
You'll know if I go there; I'll make another post from Mom and Dad's house if we move there. Kris is down from Nachitoches and staying with Mom and Dad.
Our apartment is 10 feet of the ground. The main thing we are worried about is storm surge and flooding. The last time Katrina came through this area only the east side of Houma flooded. No word on Nicholls yet as far as classes. Sbux will be shut down until further notice.
Everyone, I love you guys. Pray for our safety. I'm confident we'll make it through but a little extra good wishes can never hurt.
If you need to contact me, my cell will be fully charged as long as possible.
