In a way, yes, I believe so. Every move you make is of your chosing pretty much. That sounded kind of obvious, but its true, lol *shurgs* I wanted to sound clever, I don't know if I did.
I think for the most part, yes, we do choose who we are. I think some of it has to do with the kind of situations we are thrown into, but I think it is the way we choose to deal with those situations that form us a person.
Huh... I don't think so... I think everthing in our lives are influenced by our descisons, one way or another, but I don't think we choose. I mean, I don't CHOOSE to be human... that descions was somehow influnced by others, mainly my parents, but we do have a lot of influence in our lives... I can never give a straight answer... haha...
Well, I don't belive in fate/destiny, really. Like, I don't believe we have a set plan or design. I feel like each thing we do, or choose to do, affects how our life is going. We pretty much make our life. But, obviously there are things we just can't control. Like, if something terribly bad happened to you..or even something like this VT tech massacre, none of us really choose that happening. I think some things happen because of certain decisions, like unwanted consequences. But sometimes OTHER people make decisions and they affect you. It all depends, I think :)
It kind of depends on what you mean by "choose". Do you want to know if we can control everything or are you referring to fate? We can't control everything, it's simply not possible. There are some things that we just can't affect. As for fate... I think it exists but that's not to say that everything that happens in our life is predetermined. I think that fate only really applies when it comes to things like birth and death. Like a career is something you choose, most people aren't born destined to be whatever I only think that's the case when a person uses their position or career to make a big difference in the world.
That makes sense....its just today someone told me I chose who I was and the things that happened to me. And it made me really really think. I don't agree with what this someone was refering to but....god I don't know. I believe we choose alot and those choices effect alot of things. Kind of like this episode of So Weird(don't know if you ever saw that show) but it was one where it showed both sides of one decission through the whole ep. It was interesting....and even though I saw that like 6 years ago(or whenever...)it was the first time I thought about choices.....
You didn't choose to be gay, no one does, and you most certainly didn't choose to have crappy things happen in your life. That someone would think that you did is idiotic. I guess I actually don't think about choice very often, in the end I figure "What difference does it matter whether I chose this or not because it's what I have now so I'll just have to deal with it."
Exactly. We got into and argument and I was like ok well did I choose to get in the car with my grandmother and have an almost fatal accident at 11 and then have her blame the whole thing on me? And she was like well you chose to go to school didn't you. And I was like I had no choice but to go to school...I mean its crazy. The guy who hit us didn't just up and decide to fucking hit us. She just doesn't get it.
