would you like car wash today. . . ?

Tonight I'm out with sophia, and I remember that my car is almost out of gas. So we pull into a gas station, and then walk in to grab something to eat. We pick a few things out, and go up to the counter where a guy - probably early twenties - is standing, looking incredibly bored and not at all happy about working at 8 o'clock on a saturday night. Randomly I ask, "how's your car wash? I need to get one, and sometimes some places aren't that great. how's this one?" He, of course, (because they pay him to say this) says "oh, it's really good. I think it's closed, though." sophia and I exchange looks and were like, "why?" "cold weather, but you can check and see if the door's open." I'm thinking, dude it's nebraska, we never close car washes because of cold weather, and walk outside to check. door's open. I walk back to my car, fill it up with gas, and go pay. I ask for a car wash, explaining that it's open. He says, okay, that's cool.
We climb back into the car, and I quickly pull into the car wash. We go to leave and I realized that the exit door is closed. "Oh, I wonder if this is one of those automatic doors that opens after you finish," I say. I start to pull forward, letting the air dryer do it's thing. The door doesn't budge. Hmm. And then we get the bright idea to just back out. One look behind us tells us that the entrance door closed when we pulled in. crap. Sophia and I are cracking up at this point, remembering the guy's comment on the car wash being closed! By this time the dryer has stopped, and we've gotten out of the car to try to open both the exit door, and the door for workers off to the side. I'm like, "Umm, what do we do? I've never been stuck in a car wash before!!!! Wait! We can just call information and get the number to the gas station, and ask him to let us out. What's the number for information...? Isn't it like star 4 or something...?" (Umm.. by the way, my little brother reminded me that "it's 411, you dummy." I can't believe I forgot THAT...haha!!!) Neither of us can remember the number, so we called her mom, who looked up the number. (and then I thought to honk my horn several times. no response. I think that guy has selective hearing.) We call the gas station. He answers, "whoa, you guys are still in there? I'll be out in a sec." He comes out, saves the day, and gives us another car wash. (since my windshield is nice and dry, and the rest of my car - which never made it to the dryer - is very wet)
We look back as I'm pulling out and see him glaring out the window at us. I'm sure he thought we were on something, because we couldn't stop cracking up at the whole situation. I told sophia we should go in next week and ask for a car wash. I can just imagine his answer - a hasty "no, it's closed!!" We spent a good 20 minutes in that thing .. but, hey .. my car is very clean now!!! :)
These are the kinds of things always seem to happen to me. At least it keeps life interesting!
