anita blake
ok so anyone who reads the anita blake series can yell with me after reading blood noir. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! i doubt anyone even uses this anymore and the few that do are even less likely to read the series but still this is my post and this is whats on my mind.
The series starts off with a bang. A badass chick that kills, solves murders, and doesnt care about hairclips and boys. I started reading it and it blew my mind. I loved the way hamiliton potrayed the main character and i was cheering her along the way.
Then something happened. It started off with anita getting into a relationship. simple and something i could accept. it added to the storyline and it wasnt something that made me shake my fist to the sky asking why. then you add the next guy. ok, i could accept this. a love triangle. almost every good story has one...i can go with this. and then..shit hit the fan.
anita became this huge slut and the author was coming up with all these excuses for why she was..like she needed to it..it gave her power. after finding out that the author actually did it because she was going through a divorce was writing through her pain, and added on top of that, the publisher told her to tone down the sex so naturally she turned up the slut. with these reasons i was able to forgive and hope that the series would actually get better.
after reading blood noir i want to take the time, energy, and money to invest in creating a time machine. the whole book was basically relationship crap wrapped in unimportant drama that would put the hills to shame. where did the title even come from?!! seriously. there was a sprinkle of action and crime in there but out of the 350 pages or so..it was mostly high school drama. yes i am bitching about this on lj and if you are reading this you really cant make fun of me (well ok you can but still) and the worst part of this is that im probably going to be buying skin trade. why do you ask? maybe i enjoy making myself feel pain. that or i cling this misguided hope i have that it will get better.
