wow, i just realized the reason i haven't posted in so long is because i forgot my password and was too lazy to reset it. its still a mystery to me what i originally set it as...

but, onto new things...
its summer! i've successfully finished my third year and i'm moving onto my last year! wow, it has been SO quick... i am also in taiwan right now :) and i've been having a wonderful time. i'm in tainan where my grandparents are and i've been doing lots of shopping, haircutting, and other things to completely morph me into the fob i am inside. hahaha there's also a typhoon going on here and it is RAINING like i have never experienced in sunny california. my cousins here are also awesome, they took us out on their mopeds in the typhoon rain weather and we went shopping and ate lots of the yummy xiao chi tainan is famous for.

last week i was in china. we went on a tour in yunnan. it was really weird, we had one tour guide for our family. we visited kunming, banna, dali, lijiang, and shangri la. it was quite an experience. i am happy to say the least that i am out of china and in taiwan. i could NOT get over how nasty the toilets are. maybe its cause we visited more countryside-like places in china, but the vast majority of them were holes in the ground with no doors (and yes, people do look at you WHILE you go) with poop in the toilet and pee all OVER the place.
i've learned a few things about china:
1. bring toilet paper. it is never provided.
2. roll up your pants before entering the bathroom. the ground is wet and it is probably NOT water...
3. also wear durable shoes. not only do you encounter wet slippery bathroom floors but i've seen little boys pee in the middle of street, old men spit giant hunks of phlegm on hotel lobby floors, and i've even seen a little girl poo in the street while her mother held her up...
4. don't line up for ANYTHING. no such things as lines. people just mob and crowd you to get first place
5. if a tour guide brings you somewhere to "rest", they are probably going to bring you to buy jade or tea or chinese medicine where the salespeople are going to hustle you beyond imagination for you to spend every last penny in your wallet. the tour guides also get commission.
6. take lots of pictures in yunnan, the views and culture are really unique

well, its really late in taiwan... all i can say about china is if i go again, i'm definitely going to big cities where the standard of living is higher...
goodnight, pictures to come! :)
