I was horrified to find that some people had defriended me. :-(
See, the default LJ settings send you a message when someone friends you, but not if they defriend you. And true, it turned out to be people deleting their journals entirely - not to mention mostly people I didn't recognise because they've never, ever left a comment... but it was still upsetting for a moment.
Also,I've discovered that the number of people reading an entry usually exceeds the number of people commenting by a massive amount, which is reassuring. :-)
I get weirdly irrational when I see that, and start curling up in a ball and sobbing "No-one likes me and I suck! I'm never going to post again!" ...for about ten seconds, before I get over myself. :)
Maybe you should cultivate more vindictiveness. "Hah! Don't like what I post? Well, you clearly have no taste or intelligence! Good riddance! Now I'm going to write some wonderfully witty, clever and evocative posts and you'll miss all of them because you suck. Ha ha!"
I don't have a paid account at present, so I can't use most of the features. (I admit to being curious about the random people who show up in "My Guests." Where did they come from? Why are they here? The world may never know!)
Agreed! All but 3 of the people on My Guests have made their settings invisible. Who are the rest? Why are they there? Did I (gasp) write something INTERESTING?
Well, I'm set for invisible, since I'd rather not leave a trail wherever I go. Not that I wouldn't love to know who's visiting me, but the tradeoff isn't worth it.
So right now, for example, I'm one of your invisible peoples...
One thing's for sure. One of my "guests" probably came by because they saw me reading a fic they wrote. I loved it but, sociophobe that I am, I didn't comment. Now I feel guilty enough to go say hi...
Have an elephant on a trampoline, because I don't have a thematic icon.
I have to say that I find it fascinating AND confusing. What does it all mean?
Total Traffic vs. Journal Only?
What is "Page views" and why are there more of them than "All visitors"? Does that mean it counts all the people who look at their friend's "Friends" page on which I am listed, but don't click on the cut? Also, why are there more "LiveJournal users" vs. "All visitors"? I just don't know what it's telling me! Still, sexy bar graphs!
I was surprised by the amount of non-LJ visitors to my page. I knew I had a couple lurkers who didn't have accounts, but looking at the stats, I've got a surprising number of them (including some who seem to have me on an RSS feed or something that I know nothing about).
I don't check my stats regularly, so I haven't noted any pattern to the spikes. I just check in every now and again. I think I'd like to get referral info (as in where the hell these people come from).
Yeah, the RSS feed is interesting. I wonder though if that's not something that LJ users also use so they can read their flist entries while off and about.
Well, it's not so much checking your stats regularly as comparing them, right? I made the bar graph do that thing where I could see how many visitors I had for the months and then there a pattern revealed itself.

Indeed. It would make backtrack stalking them so much easier. :P
I've got one or two people set up with RSS feeds from their Dreamwidth account set up to appear on my LJ friends page. I assume the same is possible in reverse; so if someone from Dreamwidth has you friended, they'll show up as an RSS feed.

I KNOW, RIGHT? And in fifteen years' time, Hollywood will finally catch up and make a RomCom movie about it.
