When you see a piece has won an award for Best Characterization, how do you envision this being realized? Often times, I see people using internal POV, reminiscences of the characters past, insight into their thoughts.
What is the scope of good characterization?
I find it interesting because when I write I most define the characters based on what they do. I define them by the way they act and react to situations and relationships. That and their voice.
