That is pretty hilarious. *laughs*

I'd meant to ask you on your other post, but then I felt guilty because I ask you to explain Season 8-ly things all the time, and you probably get tired of that. But just in case you don't: what's the deal with Buffy flying? I just really don't get it. I saw that you said it was set up well within the S8 canon, which is lovely, but I just don't get how/why she's doing that.

Oh, hon, you can ask me about that stuff anytime you want!

Well, in simplest terms, everyone's magic had been channeled to these Tibetan goddesses for protection. They called the goddesses forth and one of the Goddesses picked up Buffy (the goddess is giant-sized) and then throw her to the ground. And without her Slayer powers, you think that Buffy could have died. But there was a flash of magic, and the goddess channeled back some of the magic taken back into Buffy. And then the issue closes with Buffy waking alone in the mountains, everyone else captured by Twilight and the army. She closes her eyes, grimacing, and then suddenly she's floating in the air and goes, "What the hell?"

So we don't really know how, but the current theory is that Buffy got back not only her Slayer powers, but Willow's witch powers that include flying. The goddess channeled it back indiscriminately.

Good to know! No doubt I'll have many stupid questions for you in the future!

Two questions: why did she pick her up then throw her down? And did she mean to channel back the energy?

why did she pick her up then throw her down?

Well, this is my interpretation. The Goddesses were attacking everyone once called and Buffy was thrown in her way by accident. When the Goddess picked her up, I thought she was going to eat her - literally. But the Goddess looked into Buffy's face for a second, then tossed her down and you see this stream of magic. So the theory goes, the Goddess recognized Buffy as the one whose anger called her forth and finally, in return, restored some of the magic taken. Think of it like Illyria and Knox. The Goddess is Illyria and Buffy is Knox - the Goddess restored favor onto Buffy, though in a painful manner in return for bringing her forth.

And did she mean to channel back the energy?

Not exactly sure. It could be the magic was transferred accidentally through touch. But that doesn't line up with the Goddess letting her go instead of killing her like everyone else. So I think the Goddess did it deliberately - gave Buffy a pardon because she recognized her.

Interesting. I always forget that motives are so much less clear in comics (one of the reasons I'm not crazy about them, to be honest), so there's way more room for interpetation of such things.

I like the Illyria/Knox comparison. Speaking of which, when the heck is Jonathan M. Woodward going to be on Dollhouse? I need him to show up stat!

Oh, and regarding motivation, the story had this happening in the last page and the mystery of it will unfold in later issues. So there'll be more clarity, it's just we wait.

It's a good thing I'm patient. :D
