Of course, it'd be great if changed things, but it's masterful that it doesn't have to.
Very nicely done.

First of all, before I forget it. I never mentioned it before, but spicing the BtVS timeline with the dates of actual movie premieres is a secret kink of mine - so linking Halloween-2000 to Charlie's Angel's premiere is a delicious treat to me.
About the premise - dammit, woman, I sooo love your brain. To use the end of the millenium as the reason of Buffy's next trouble is an inspired decision.
Character voices:
I was reading Anya's lines and giggling.
The History Channel has a special on the Bolshevik Revolution,” Anya reminded him. “I wanted to see if I was in any of the footage. I wore the cutest outfit to that massacre.” is priceless.
You write vintage Buffy. This-” she said, pointing at the space between them, “not alone. Alone is me walking away from you. Watch. I’ll demonstrate ( ... )

Thank you!
When I realized that the week of Halloween for 2000 was a Tuesday and that we didn't get a Halloween ep that year, it just seemed perfect. Then I fell into the scene of having them hanging out after going to see a movie and I just had to go research. Seeing that Charlie's Angels had just come out then felt so perfect - the girls would so drag Xander to that movie. And Buffy would love to see girls kicking ass. Then I started remembering that year and the Y2K scare, plus the idea of ghosts and All Hallow's Eve lowering this veil between worlds. It just all came together.
Your detailed feedback is wonderful! I think this might be the longest post you've ever left me for a fic before. LOL - you've stolen penny_lane_42's skills.
I'm awed by your ability to switch from comedy to drama within a single paragraph. You are my hero. Srsly.*intense blushing* Thank you! Gah, other than "No Happy Ending", I haven't written anything ( ( ... )

It made sense now. The ritual required a sacrifice. Any spell worth its salt demanded a sacrifice. So be it.
Spike closed his eyes and waited for the fire to take him.
Fire. Why’d it have to be fire?
Ooh, foreshadowing.

One of the things I love most about your writing is that you absolutely nail the voices--your dialogue is just awesome. And you do that here, again, and it's left me with a big grin. Plus, you've captured that perfect S5-ness, in that time when we (and Spike) knew that Spike loves Buffy, but before she figures it out. I love that period.
Very fun Halloween-y-ness! And worth waiting for!

I really do love that time when Buffy has no idea how Spike feels. It's just so thrilling and fun. Oh, Spike, you silly wonderful vampire.

Delicious snarky banter between Buffy and Spike.
And I love how you write Buffy and Giles interacting together .
I missed reading you. And season 5 Spuffy is just fantastic!
