That is truly beautiful - last year I attempted to write a post-Chosen, but this is truly special.

Thank you for sharing it - and for writing the Buffy we love, in the love we know she shared.

Thank you for reading and commenting. :)

What happened to your lost attempt? Was it being unwieldy? Bad fic, naughty! :P

Oh I did post it - http://debris4spike.livejournal.com/31025.html

But when I read this work, I realised that "attempted" is the word I needed to write about this story!

An excellent picture of Buffy - brittle, brave and beautiful.

She’d been shallow and joyously happy. Once upon a time.

She clutches at love long after it’s lost its warm gleam, courting flames in the dead ashes of love abandoned.

Lovely.

Yes, exactly yes. And once upon a time she was happy. I like to think that all this sadness and pain is merely paving the way for a greater joy in her future. That she will know greater happiness due to knowing such great tragedy.

Buffy seems to carry this simmering feeling of loss and she goes onward, with acceptance and resignation, head held high.

I hope, too, that she will find a happier future.
