ooh! I love this!
you're very good at saying so *so* much in a surprisingly small number of words.
I love the acknowledgement of Cordelia's HBIC-ness. I think that gets a little lost on Angel, right from the start really with her being the lead female I felt like she went from bitchy, sorta tactless Cordelia on Buffy to a more mature Angel-lovin' helpless-helpin' kinda girl. But you don't betray that, cause these are just her thoughts and they're super believable too.

I kinda see Cordy's attraction here as yearning for Lilah's HBIC-ness, 'cause like you say she kinda loses it a little the more she becomes a hero.
