The Friday Five
1. When is your usual bedtime?
12:30a.m. on weeknights. I try to go to bed earlier, but it never happens. Even if I get in bed at 11, I end up reading until 12:30. I guess that’s my internal clock. That gives me 6.5 hours of sleep on a weeknight.
2. How many hours of sleep do you need?
I normally need like 6 hours to be able to go to work. I can do it on 4 but not if I was also drunk when I went to bed. I can either stay out til last call relatively sober OR get wasted and go to bed earlier, but I’m too old and used up to drink until 2 and wake up before 7. On the weekends, I usually get 8 hours, but it could be more if I went on a bender or less because it’s hard for me to sleep in too late. I usually wake up at usual time on the weekends, feed the cats, and go back to bed for as long as I can. It’s rare that I can sleep past 10a.m.
3. Do you usually remember your dreams?
Yes. I snooze a lot (for like an hour) so that’s when I dream, or at least those are the ones I remember. Sometimes during the day, I’ll get flashes of my dreams that I hadn’t remembered upon waking.
4. How many pillows do you sleep with?
Five. I need a minimum of 2 for height, but it’s perfect if I have 2 tall on each side of the bed so I can roll over at the perfect pillow height and then I like 1 to cuddle with. I need a cold pillow at all times, so I constantly flip and switch out my pillows during the night.
5. What is the wildest dream you've ever had?
I don’t know. Nothing jumps out… but I have definitely had stress dreams that usually involve me trying to rectify impossible situations. There was one time I dreamt that I lived in a windmill on campus at UCSC and my roommate shot me. (Not Heidi nor Z, my roommate in the dream was a rando.)
Last night around midnight, I started doing some online shopping. It's probably Tara's fault because of how much we were talking about bomber jackets at her house earlier. And my black jean jacket is soooooo old and faded that it needs to be replaced. I wanted to get a lightweight, casual, but not sportswear jacket and I found some really cheap bomber jackets on Overstock. And then I also bought 3 tops. I hope at least the jacket fits me well, but I can always return whatever doesn't work. Since it's Pride Weekend and I have early drunk brunch plans for tomorrow, I think I'm going to stay in tonight. Last night, I started cleaning my room and made some progress, but it is by no means finished. It would be awesome if I were able to motivate myself to go to the gym after work and then clean my closet and desk. I think I can do this! Organizing the closet is mostly a case of organizing shoes and purses that are all over the floor because I already picked up all the clothes that were on the floor last night. I would also like to organize my jewelry box. I got a nice jewelry box for Xmas 2008 (yes, that long ago) that is still sitting in a box while I use a fucking sugar dish full of tangled earrings and necklaces as my jewelry box. Yes, I am a total slob/slacker.
