This Entry: An attempt to feel better without prescription drugs.

Stuff to be happy about -- either in my life or just in general:

- Cold weather! It is finally cold here, and I love it. Soon, there will be snow!
- Walking Tater -- I love it, especially now that it isn't so hot. (Also, people compliment me on my pretty dog, and I enjoy that.)
- Baked goods - I'm not kidding, cookies and muffins and brownies and cakes make me happy. (I'd be happier if I could eat them every day, but oh, well).
- Coffee. Such a simple pleasure ... but so necessary. I feel almost orgasmic when I have my first sip in the mornings.
- Good music. And there's a lot out there, especially if you like old stuff like I do. Good music soothes my mind, and it can rev me up.
- My husband. I am very lucky to have someone to love, and someone who loves me. And he's cute!
- Good books/literature/poetry/novels -- there's so much to be said for this. Novels can change the world; poetry can make one think ... the power of language should never be underestimated.
- This country. Yeah, I know; but this is not over. Not by a long shot. And I have to believe. I am lucky to live in a democratic country. I am lucky that I have health insurance and a place to live and enough food to eat and good water to drink and clothes to wear. I have a nice bed to sleep in and I have a nice, reliable car. I might not have a lot of money, but I am very fortunate.
- My furrybabies. They are soft and warm; they love to cuddle; they sleep with us and make us toasty warm. And in their eyes, I am the most beautiful, smart, wonderful woman in the world. They don't concern themselves with politics -- they don't worry about a thing, 'cause Momma takes care of it all. Maybe it is pathetic, but I do learn from them.
- Good, thought-provoking, well-written TV shows -- yes, seriously. "Lost" and "Arrested Development" and "Desperate Housewives" and this final season of "NYPD Blue" are all excellent -- and, amazingly, all on major networks. I also love "The Simpsons" and "South Park" and "Reno 911" ...
- My parents. I'm lucky to have such a good relationship with them.
- School. I love it. It keeps me alive in many ways.

I might add more as I think of them. I might have to -- I know I'll get all pissed off about the election again.
