For the first time, I actually tried watching a musical play! My thesis partner, Vanessa, actually asked me last week if I was going to be busy on Sunday (June 15, 2008) at around 7 PM. I told her I wasn't and when she got home (apartment), I asked her why and she told me there was a play in Makati and told me it was my favourite. I guessed right and I was really excited. AVENUE Q!!!! Of course, it isn't my only favourite. Nevertheless, I was excited. Of course, I had to ask first how much the ticket would cost. And she didn't tell me. Van only said she'll treat me. So today, (rather, yesterday since it's already 1 AM) Van, her boyfriend, Ulysses, and I went to RCBC building in Makati to watch Avenue Q. We were quite early. Although I thought at first we were going to be a little late since I thought the show was going to be at 7. Apparently, it was going to be at 8 PM. And we were quite early. We arrived sometime near 7 so we decided to walk around before finally deciding to stop and eat. I didn't eat. Just Uly since he wasn't able to eat dinner. I just drank SOLA Apple Green Tea which costs PHP35. I was kind of surprised since we bought it at a coffee shop (Java Man???) and I thought the prices in those kind of places would be unusually high but they were almost similar to the prices in convenient stores... At least for the SOLA. Anyway, Uly ate while we talked. Van also had the same drink as I had though she bought cinnamon roll afterwards. We just talked, waited and soon, many people were arriving. Finally, we were able to go in the auditorium. But that was after we signed this certain raffle thing with a free trip to Thailand as the prize. Not that I have much hope for that. Unless it has something to do with food, I never have luck with raffles. Anyway, at first, I guess I was disappointed when I found out that the show didn't have the American cast like I had hoped. However, the play was really good and the actors/puppeteers were also amazing! Although one scene disturbed me.... I am going to kill my sister for not warning me about it! Although she probably never saw the play before though I thought she did. I wonder why today's play was called Avenue Q The Farewell Run though. Anyway, overall, it was great!!! I loved it! And I guess this was a good play considering it is my first time to watch a play in the theater.... or at least to my knowledge.... Unless I did watch before but was too young to remember.... Oh wait, I did get to watch Oliver Twist.... Still!!! That was a school production by my brother's school. So not counting that!
Anyway, the whole night was great. All I spent was PHP100 for the taxi on the way (back and forth already since first costs around PHP47.50, same as the one on the way home and I just gave a PHP50 peso bill on both cases) and PHP150 for the program. It's my first time on a professional play! Of course I'm excited and want something to remember it by. Oh yeah, I offered to pay for travel since my friend was already paying for my ticket, which I found out was PHP1,300.00 each. Although she did get a discount and instead of paying PHP3,900.00 for all, she only paid PHP3,500.
I couldn't stop thanking her for this! It was a great night! Of course, when we got home, we didn't talk about it much since we were busy trying to find a way to open her room since she left the key inside, not expecting her boyfriend to close the door when we left for the play. I have to admire her boyfriend though. He was scared of heights but he was willing to go down the window (from the room I share with a classmate, Anna) from the third floor down the second to Van's room. He didn't get to go down though since Van was able to open the room then.
Overall, one of the best times of my life!!!
