Trip Recount

Jun 11, 2006 17:32

So, my Dad got me to the airport on time.

It was kinda funny, I haven't seen him drive like that for years and years. We were afraid we'd be late, so we booked it to the airport.

The goodbye was very hard. He obviously didn't want me to go, but he was supportive. I don't think I could ever express how much I appreciate how supportive he's been lately.

So, I got the gate about an hour or so early. I pull out Flowers in the Attic (Good book. Scary fucking book, but good book) and read and read.

Then I hear that an earlier flight was cancelled because of weather around Boston. Apparently one strip was open. Just one, in Boston International Airport. That's kinda scary. ;)

At around 1:30, I went up to make sure that if things were messed up and I missed my flight in Boston, I'd be able to catch a flight to Paris later. They confirmed it, and I went back to my book. The plane was supposed to board at 11:00, and land in Boston at 1:30, heh.

At about 2, we boarded the plane, heh.

Plane rides are pretty predictable. Nothing exciting happens, you read, you play video games, you pass out.. Whatever.

I get to Boston and dash around trying to find someone with a cell-phone I could use to call Trish, since I knew I'd get shit for keeping them waiting without a call. ;)

Meet for dinner and a good bought of 20 questions. I was tired and groggy, but the 20 questions wasn't unexpected.

I go through customs, pretty easily, board my Paris flight, watch 'Failure to Launch'... And pass out. Wake up about half an hour from Paris.

In Paris, I almost missed the flight to Geneva because there was a problem with my eTicket (it was there, but it wasn't showing up). I barely made it, only because the plane was running late, itself, heh.

The sight from plane, crossing over the Alps, was gorgeous. Though, the countryside looks like a patchwork quilt. I'm guessing they wanted to make Europe like some warm blanket in case Aliens ever decided to show up!! It was actually gorgeous, I'm not kidding.

The mountains are beautiful and I think they make the Rockies look like hills.

Then the airport annoyed the crap outta me. The passport line was huge, according a very nice British Gentlemen (who helped me when I was confused about the Suisse/France things.. Hee), and yet it took two seconds of a guy looking at my passport, looking at me, and giving it back.

The baggage claim was for passengers only, so I ended up waiting for over an hour ... Only to find out my baggage was on a later flight. They gave me the information to call to get my bag delivered and all of that. I go outside and wander around, looking for Martin. My eyes are killing me, since I wasn't able to read, so everything was blurry. I decided to just sit down and see if my wireless card was working. About halfway through boot-up, Martin appears and thus... My trip was finalized!

Quote of the Day : Kudzu is gorgeous and deadly, kinda like ***************, but... Well, actually, I don't think of that as gorgeous, so... Yah, maybe not. - On the phone with Maggie (me)
