Family Matters

So evidently my grandparents on my mother's side have decided to make a road trip around the grand ole USofA, foisting their presence on poor family members that have no desire to see them. Like me. Louisville is the last stop of their trip, and unfortunately they plan on spending the most time with us.

Keep in mind, these are the uber-religious nutjobs that haven't bothered to talk to or see me or my sister in our entire lives. The only time I've ever been in their oh-so-esteemed presence was at my great-grandmother's funeral, and I was three at the time. They tried to get me to fly to fricking Washington State after high school graduation to spend time with them as a present, but as I consider that more of a punishment than a present, I turned down their kind offer. Ditto on the offer to come visit them in Athens while I was in Strasbourg. I might have been tempted if only for the free place to stay so I could see the city, I figured even that wasn't worth it.

Last month they came back from Athens and chastened my mother for leading us away from the church. I wonder what they'll say when they see that she raised not only a caffeine-addicted, highly liberal atheist, but an alcoholic slut as well. Fun times are sure to abound.

Kill me now?
