Christmas Shopping (for dontthinkabout)

It had been a couple weeks since they had gone to Ariadne's parent's for Thanksgiving, something that had worked out even better than she ever could have imagined, and they'd settled back into Paris and their more normal routine. They were, however, keeping busy looking at condos and Arthur was secretively planning their Christmas island getaway, ( Read more... )

Arthur looked up from his eggs and toast when she said his name. “I was wondering if you wanted to stop by Cartier or Tiffany’s to look at engagement rings.” He’d been thinking about it and knew that he should pick one out by himself based on what she would like, but he thought it might be better to include her. Just to be on the safe side.

She couldn't help but smile into her coffee mug at that.

"Yeah? You realize you probably know way more about engagement rings than I do," she pointed out. And she trusted his taste and the amount he knew her taste as well. "But I guess it would be nice to see what's out there. I don't think I've ever been in either of those stores."

She wasn't much for jewelry and until recently she'd never had the means to buy anything there even if she had wanted.

He returned the smile as he sipped his orange juice. “I know. It doesn’t matter about the carats or whether it’s gold or platinum to me. I just want you to have a ring that you’ll like.”

"I just want a ring that shows I'm yours," she said. "And, well, is a little sparkly too."

Although she'd probably tend to lean toward something that was more unique than traditional.

"I'm sure one of the stores will have a ring like that." Arthur was definitely leaning towards unique when considering a ring for her.

"I am kind of interested in seeing what you would pick for me though," she said.

"To be honest, I was going to choose a solitary diamond ring," he told her.

"That would be fine," she said with a nod. "I don't need anything too extravagant or big. My hands are so small, anything like that would just probably look ridiculous anyway."

"Don't worry, no two million dollar rings for you," he joked.

"Oh god, who has a two million dollar ring?" she asked, eyebrows raised. "How can anyone wear that around without a ring body guard or something?"

He shrugged and laughed. "Millionaires, I suppose."

"You're a millionaire," she pointed out. "But if you ever start buying me jewelry worth more than very large houses, I will smack you."

"I won't, promise," he told her.

"Good," she said with a smile. "Well, I guess I should go get ready then."

She stood up and brought her dishes to the sink.

"Alright." He stood up as well so he could do the dishes and put away any left overs.

She gave him a quick kiss before heading into the bedroom. She'd taken a shower the night before so she just had to do her hair, put on a little make up and get dressed. She decided to dress up a little more than she usually would just to go shopping. It was a special day though and she wanted to look nice for it. So she put on a simple dress with leggings and a cardigan. She still couldn't compete with most of the Parisian women, but the only person's opinion she cared about, didn't seem to care.
