I know I promised to post gym updates here, and then promptly posted none.
At any rate, I've been doing well. I haven't missed a workout, and I'm seeing steady increases. I'm doing a program specifically designed and proven to work for beginners. It was developed by a guy who's been bodybuilding and coaching for over thirty years, Mark Rippetoe. It starts off extremely simple, but it's very effective. Basically I have two different workouts that I alternate between. Workout A is 3 sets of 5 squats, 3 sets of 5 bench press, and a set of 5 deadlifts. Workout B is 3 sets of 5 squats, 3 sets of 5 standing military press, and 3 sets of 5 pendlay rows.
I've been increasing the weight on each lift every time I've gone to the gym. I have to eat a TON of calories - I never thought I'd say this in my life, but it's a huge pain in the ass to eat this much. I'm trying to eat 3,000+ calories a day, and keep it pretty healthy. Tons of protein. I'm eating 5-6 meals a day. At least I'm never hungry, I guess, but I have to plan my whole day around eating, which is annoying.
I have been keeping a log and I update it every time I go to the gym. I'll start posting them here. To summarize what I've done so far...
Squats:
Started at 55 pounds (i iz weak lolz)
Currently at 95 pounds
Bench press:
Started at 85 pounds
Currently at 105 pounds
Deadlift:
Started at 75 pounds, which was way too low
Currently at 155 pounds
Military press:
Started at 65 pounds
Currently at 80 pounds and struggling
Rows:
Started at 75 pounds
Currently at 95 pounds
So yeah, basically I'm weak as fuck but improving. No visual gains yet, but it's only been three weeks, so hey.
