I've officially caught another fandom like some people catch a virus. When I came home from Muskrat Jamboree, bandslash was apparently still incubating in my system, as I spent two whole days thinking, 'bandslash? Meh.' And then...well. I'm writing, I'm keeping a list of interview links, etc that is titled 'Patrick Stump, you complete hotass,' I have a list of story ideas that I desperately want to see, I bought tickets (multiple, the better to coerce people into attending with me) to the June 4 concert in Columbia, MD, and feel generally flaily about all things FOB.
A small complaint, people:
Where are all the pre-band stories about baby!Patrick, who was apparently a big fan of the hardcore scene? I want fourteen and fifteen-year-old, wide-eyed and yet disaffected Patrick, feeling the rush of a really good club show. I want to see him forming garage bands and being a geeky high school radio dj, and trying to convince his parents that they should really, really let him leave school and tour the country with this twenty-something guy and his friends in a crap-ass van. Possibly, what I'm trying to say is: More Patrick! He's just a woobie-licious, stealth hotass. You look at him and think, right, sure, okay, whatever, and then he says something sly and witty and gives that small little smile or the big grin and wham! you can't help but adore him. And then he opens his mouth to sing and just fucking belts out the lyrics and holy shit, you are composing 'Patrick Stump, you complete hotass' lists.
Or maybe that's just me.
