A little over a month has gone by yet again, and life is going swimmingly for the most part.
Work at both the Shaw's Service Desk and at the McKinley Prep High School has been going well. I'm definitely keeping busy, but I did cut back my hours at Shaw's for a little more "me" time. It's nice.
Joe & I joined Dad, Nada, and Diane & Joel on a journey up to Canada at the beginning of October to see my Grandmemere & Grandpepere. It was good to see them both, but pretty sad to see how much my Grandmemere's Alzheimer's has progressed. She, who was always so fluent and outgoing, seems to have forgotten how to speak English and hardly spoke at all the entire day. On a more positive note, though, Grandpepere is now forced to do all the speaking, and I'm now beginning to realize just how funny he is, despite his very-limited English.
Alzheimer's usually skips generations...so it makes me kinda sad to see my own future demise projected in my grandmother. And forgetting everything that's ever happened, I think, is the scariest way to go.
Joe thinks I'm being morbid. But I don't know...
Anyway, on a happier note: I spent some time with Joselyn & Francis last month and we went to the Keene Pumpkin Festival which was a good time. JOSELYN IS GETTING MARRIED!!! They'd been "engaged" for a while now, but it's good to see that they're doing very well and have actually set the date for August 11, 2008!
And I get to be the bridesmaid! I'm really excited for this because it looks like she & I will get to spend more time together to work on planning it all! I'm so happy for her!
I told Mom about it and she was asking me why Joe & I aren't engaged or married yet. I told her that I didn't want to steal Joselyn's thunder. :-) She didn't like that answer.
She also wants grandkids...yes, she's nuts.
Went out clubbing for the first time with a couple of girls I work with. Although I definitely won't say that I'm normally a "clubber," it felt so good to have a girls night out, grab a few drinks, and dance the night away! It takes the pressure of life right off my shoulders! Beautiful!
Went to UNH to see Spanky for Family Weekend! It was good to meet the roomies and see her happy there (she was homesick in September). Joe & I met up with the whole family there, and we couldn't have been more excited to leave.
Every moment with the family is a sensory overload.
Went to Joe's Dad's 60th Birthday Surprise Party. It was a good time...not as overwhelming, but close.
Joe's sister, Michelle, and her friend just left today. They came down for a night on the town and a tour of the Boston tourist scene. We all had fun!
Diane & Robert will be coming down for the first time this weekend! It's Spanky's birthday on the 18th, so I actually bought us all Blue Man Group tickets! Front and center, baby!...right in the poncho section! BOO-YAH!!!
Yes, I'm tres excited!
