so it happened. bo moved out last night officially. of coarse he still has tons of shit here but he took all the good stuff (xbox, dvd player, tv, remotes, cable connection, and most of his shit in his room). he said we get to keep the silver wear and the plates along with a couch and a chair. whoopdeedoo. it's cool i just got off the phone with my mom and she said that it's cool he's bound the by the lease to pay his half of the rent. and thats the only thing i really worried about with him. as far as him leaving, good riddance to bad tension. now alls i got to worry about is the whole in our kitchen ceiling. i totally cleaned the house today. attempting to do laundry (waiting for the washer to thaw), i washed all the cabinetry in the kitchen with orange cleaner as well as the counter tops and some of the walls where for some reason there was a series of foot prints, i also did the dishes, cleaned my room, vaccuumed, cleaned up the trash/laundry room. mind you any "chore" in this house is huge becuase until recently three male slobs live here. i still have to go to school, figure out why i have a $100 over due charge with the library, schedule a date to meet with my acedemic advisor, get a list of apartments for rent and go to a party later tonite.
this party looks promising tonite. yesterday as i was walking to the elevators i heard the beautiful ochestrated sounds of the arcade fire coming from the cafe only a stones throw away. i look over and there's a pretty red headed chick working the counter so i asked her if it was her album playing and of coarse it was, i then felt obligated to confess my love for the band. she was like yea, they're really great i can't stop listening to them, hey you should come to our party tommarrow and with that she wrote down her info and then gave me a small flyer which she pulled from her book bag. so a party thrown by a girl who enjoys the arcade fire (not like they're hard to listen to or anything tho)sounds interesting. she's a sculpture major so im sure there'll be kids there i haven't met before as well as experiencing a whole different vibe. it's weird most people think artists act like artists but we don't. well we do but it's funny how each division in art has it's own click of people who have very similar traits in there personality. by talking to a person and observing their demeanor and they clothing choices you can tell what major they are. sculptors usually are bald or have buzzed hair, something efficient. they usually dress in charcoal colored clothing and sometimes mixed with earth tones. they usually talk with their hands and are usually pretty blunt with how they make their statements speaking or otherwise. but i've always wondered how these people's thought processes work. for instance my thought process kind of makes me instinctively interpret what i see into the weird cartoony stuff you may have seen in my work, i'd be interested to understand the thought process of things seen in life interpreted in abstract 3-d expressions. yea i dont kow if you follow that sentance or not but im not proofreading this so, enjoy. anywho it'll be a good new experience that will probably not live up to my preconceived expectations but none the less it's something to do tonight.
as for news? i guess im in a band now. three nights in a row now ben's come over and we've jammed using a bass hooked to a muddy ass sounding practice guitar amp, a children's xylophone set, chopsticks and beads and a butter dish cover, an acoustic guitar and a microphone. it's sweet, it really is. i usually play the bass and our sound is interesting, i think in a low key kind of way. like for instance, ben will come up with some sort of noise with the microphone and get a beat going and then ill get a bass line down to that and then he'll solo something over me and vise versa. i play the bass in a style similar to lightning bolts bassist as far as just a really steady beat keeping distorted bass line that repeats but evolves slightly with every count. simply becuase i can't remember the beat we had after i do a solo but even our fuck ups turn out to work with the songs we do. it's all free style, nothing really written. just jamming off the vibes for lack of a better term. so basically im catching influences of fugazi, lightning bolt, some sort of blues and jazz. it's also alot of tension and release playing too which is fun, you can take the same bass line or guitar riff and play with releasing the tension and you'll be able to keep someone's attention with 6 notes. it's fun. we need to find a drummer or percussion person to give us a fuller sound. but the drummer has to be able to evolve with the jams.
i've gotten back into reading the power of mythology again and im buzzing inside.
