Late last night, I actually looked at an american flag without a tinge of cynicism and contempt
for the very first time. Naive childhood excepted.
That said, it's amazing how the most unifying and at least ostensibly well-meaning presidents always seem to end up being assassinated. Fingers crossed that we are beyond that sort of absurdity, but I can't say I'm convinced.
