Patronage
It used to be popular, as a sign of status, for the wealthy to sponsor an artist, to act as a patron.
I miss that.
There was a story on the news this morning about the amounts of money political candidates spend on their campaigns. If everyone who contributed to those campaigns took that money and instead went out and bought a piece of art, or, even, for shits ang giggles, became a patron, I think our country would be a much nicer place to live.
Or hell, spend it on education.
Wishful thinking.
And then there was supper.
