JOA

Joan and Adam: I was slightly disappointed, but not surprised, that Joan and Adam’s kiss didn’t really go anywhere. I was surprised that JoA took such a predictable route (one or both characters denying that something happened between them, or ignoring a situation altogether, is so very common in TV relationships).

However, I was pleased to see Joan and Adam actually *talk.* Adam didn’t just sulk, and Joan didn’t avoid the big discussion for as long as she might have. I’m glad that the writers aren’t treating we viewers as mindless masses who won’t watch a show without lots of UST, maintained through any ridiculous means necessary.

I wanted to give Adam a good smack when he called Joan Joan again. He’s using the Joan/Jane bit to punish her, and that is already getting old.

I thought God asking Joan to dance was odd. Any regular TV viewer could see Adam walking in on them a mile away. Was God intending to get Adam jealous in order to spur them into the necessary discussion?

Will: I’m not a big Will-fan at the best of times. Tonight, he *really* wore on my nerves. Okay, let me amend that--Will isn’t bad in a domestic scene, it’s when he’s dealing with the job that Will really drives me crazy. He pushed back the bust because he had to be there. Mr. Law and Order himself punched another man for asking him to follow the rules. It seemed like Will is all for rules so long as they benefit him and his sense of righteousness.

And then. PTSD. I’m glad that they addressed the trauma of having a gun pointed at one’s head, and one’s life repeatedly threatened. Will was still a jerk, but at least the writers are trying to give him some sort of character arc. (Although, if I were Helen, I’d be much, much more pissed).

Misc.

As always, Luke, Grace, and the other kids were fun.

Kevin wasn’t annoying--yay!--and I’d enjoy his romance more if he didn’t insist on bringing up his paralysis every episode. I think he’s growing on me a bit, though.
