[ACTION; PRIVATE]

*Up to this point, he'd been looking forward to the memories; all the little memories of Tomoe, their marriage, their meeting, and so on. It had been spurring him on, knowing someone was waiting for him. Someone who loved him, who was waiting for him to come home ( Read more... )

[He spends a lot of time in the park, and that is where he finds Kotetsu, sitting by himself, looking uncharacteristically grim.

Yuri isn't one for getting involved in the emotional lives of others, but after all, he and Kotetsu are from the same world, and they know each other somewhat.]

Hello, Kaburagi. [A pause. He doesn't want to pry.] You seem troubled. [Being troubled is something he knows about.]

Eh?

*Evasive mode!*

Ah, well... just wondering how well this whole superhero league thing's going to go. I mean, it's one thing to talk about it, but now we're actually getting somewhere with it.

Is that all? [Even he isn't that worried about it, and he is serious about everything.] It's going fine so far, and there are a number of people here who have experience with such things. If there are difficulties, we'll work through them.

It isn't like you to worry about such things. [He doesn't remember everything about this man, but even based on their dealings so far in Sirocco--Kotetsu rarely seems to worry, eager to charge ahead and not think about the consequences. He feels somewhat awkward about this, as they're not personally close, but something is decidedly off, so he'll ask.] What else is the matter?

Sure, sure. Just gotta think about these things, you know? It's gonna be a big deal, protecting the folks around here.

Eh? What makes you think anything's the matter? Trust me, I'm fine. Once this whole thing gets started up, you'll think you were imagining the whole thing!

I agree on that point. Protecting people is a grave responsibility. I'm glad to see you considering the matter so thoroughly.

Has anything occurred to change your mind? You seemed to be of a different opinion before. Where caution and thinking things over is concerned, that is. [He'd seemed to be ready to run out and do things on his own.]

I find this place worrisome, myself... [He trails off, thoughtfully, before continuing.] I'm surprised at how relatively little people seem to worry about the possible consequences of our odd predicament. Perhaps it's that most would prefer to avoid discussing such an unpleasant topic.

Nah. Probably just a bit of the jitters picking up on this again when I'm still remembering stuff. Once I'm off and running I'll be back to my old self.

Ah, well... I guess I don't really see the point of worrying HOW we got here at this point. Besides, the folks running the place have been so good about taking us in, so what's the problem?

I can understand that. Suddenly returning memories can be unsettling.

If we knew how, that would be a step toward figuring out how we might return. [He stares at Kotetsu for a moment.] What is the problem? Children have been taken from their homes, and adults have been taken from their jobs and families. You don't find that problematic? Personally, I would like to help people return to their homes, if it's at all possible.

Not to mention the fact that remembering one's past at random, out of order, could easily cause psychological trauma, yet there have been no steps taken to deal with that problem.

*God. It's not that Kotetsu doesn't see the problem, of course, especially not when it's laid out like that. But what does he have to go back to at this point? The only person who supported him whole-heartedly is dead. He might as well show his thanks to the people who took him in here and defend them; he's not sure he wants to see the rest of his memories at this point. But...*

I guess that's a good point. Well, that's gonna be part of the job too, I think, helping others get home. It'd be kind of a dick move not to help as much as we can with that sort of thing when we're heroes. Hell, maybe I'll stick around here, helping all the folks that get stuck.

It should be part of the job. Don't Heroes help whoever needs them? They should never turn a blind eye to evil or misfortune.

[He pauses.]

You have responsibilities at home, things to return to. Some of them I myself remember. [However, he's become even less forthcoming than he was before about the things he remembers.] You don't belong here.

True, true, but so do everybody else. Gotta think of everybody, right? I think I can take my time a little. Besides, I got a lot more stuff to get back, so I might as well take my time.
