I've remembered that in addition to serving the people as a prosecutor, I was later appointed to serve the city of Sternbild as a judge ( Read more... )

Hey, I just remembered about the whole Hero TV thing too! Can't say that was exactly how I expected to be doing the superhero thing, mind... But at least that means I could do it totally legit, and look cool in the process!

It's gonna seem a little slow without cameras everywhere, mind, but hey, if you're cool with us doing this if we work with you, that's great, thanks!

Ah, you're one of the heroes? That solves the mystery of how we know each other. I haven't remembered them individually yet, only the job itself, from my behind-the-scenes perspective. Perhaps you can fill me in on the details.

Yes, I am. I have a great deal of experience, and I believe I could fill the same role here.

Can't remember a heck of a lot. Just stuff about cameras and announcers and looking cool and heroic while going around saving people. I guess it's not the classiest thing, but it sure was a rush!

((His most recent 1% in other words.))

I'm sure you'll remember your colleagues soon enough. I have the vague sense that there were a few of them. I myself recall the boardroom and the other administrators, as well as the necessary paperwork and researching the criminals to be captured. As well as seeing that those heroes in violation of the law were reprimanded.

The public safety is of primary importance, where I'm concerned.

So is this what people do around here? Talk about shit they remember on their video phones?

Perhaps they do. I myself have a job to go to and little free time, but I wished to make an announcement to prevent certain people from possibly endangering themselves and others.

Right I heard that part. No one's going to do it, though. Super heroes are all about secret identities, right? They're going to be cagey about that.

Also do we seriously have a bunch of dipshits flying around with capes helping little old ladies cross the street and throwing buses through skyscrapers?

I'm known to some of these people, and I will not reveal any information concerning them, not even so much as to say whether any have revealed their identities to me. Where I'm from, the heroes' identities are known only to those persons who need to know, and secrecy is preserved.

It would be in their best interests to inform me, as if they act in violation of the law, they will be subject to the law.

We do have people here with such abilities, yes. Fortunately, no buses have yet been thrown through skyscrapers. [He says this very dryly.]

Well, I already talked to you about me, but, hey, while we're on the subject, can I ask you for a favor? I've got an idea and I could use your help getting it off the ground.

Yes, I've kept your situation in mind, retired though you might be at the current moment.

I'd be pleased to be able to help, Booster. What do you propose?

While you're making nice with the feds, do you think you could talk them into giving us hero types a headquarters? A pay raise would be good, too, as an incentive, but it's the HQ that I'm really gunning for.

See, I remembered something about back home. I was a member of a group of heroes called the Justice League, and I think it'd be a good idea to start up a branch of the League here. Strength in numbers, right? If we're all in one organization together, that makes it easier for us to stay on the level with the boys in blue, and we can work together to get some real good done, stuff like regular trips out into the wilderness by people who know they can handle what's out there.

I will certainly do everything I can to obtain a Headquarters for you. Actually, I don't foresee it being a problem, as there are many empty buildings that might be repurposed. I've already made some headway and some connections.

Where I'm from, also, the heroes work together, though I don't yet recall all the details. [Or that he hates heroes.] It does make much more sense to operate that way. An excellent suggestion.

I'd feel much better if the outings into the wilderness were handled by those with skill and experience.

Thanks, but I don't need to take yours anymore, Mr. Petrov! I can go out on my own now.

All right, Palom. [He pauses, still not sure about children venturing out on their own.] Are you quite sure about that? I wouldn't want you to endanger yourself unnecessarily.

I'm a prodigy. I'll be fine!

A prodigy of what, if I might ask? [He's not entirely convinced about that.]
