There is something so beautiful about the bond a family shares.
Yesterday I met up with two of my cousins, each from different sides of the family, to talk and catch up. When we were younger the three of us, plus my sister, were so close. We spent summers together - reading, bike riding, camping, singing, playing dress-up, imagining our futures- but in the past few years we've all lost that constant contact.
My heart did a silly, happy dance last night when we were talking and laughing. My mouth hurt from smiling so much. It was so comfortable and so comforting. We were talking about deep issues but there was a sense of peace. That unspoken contract was still there, still valid - I will love you forever, no matter what you say or do. I will always be on your side, helping you through whatever comes your way.
