On my busy social scene

On Saturday night, Ed, Neal and another friend from school, Paul, had a party at the Red Lion in Knowle to celebrate their 30th birthdays. They had one together for their 21sts and, as we don't see Paul very often (he's married and lives in Solihull with a very demanding ball and chain) they decided it would be a good idea to repeat it 9 years on. It was very well attended and very enjoyable with disco and buffet catering to everyone's tastes.

Sunday we all met up in town and went for lunch at the Handmade Burger Co in Brindley Place. I don't know if I've blogged this place before but it's fantastic. They serve the biggest and best-tasting burgers I've ever had in my life and I heartily recommend it. After that we all had one for the road in The Slug and Lettuce before heading on our merry ways. I came home and did bugger all until it was time to sleep.

Monday and Tuesday I was at work. In case I haven't mentioned, I now have Wednesdays off work instead of Tuesdays. This was how I used to work in the good old days but it changed a couple of years ago and I've finally managed to change it back. It breaks the week up much better having Wednesdays off.

Today I'm me and Neal are going to lunch somewhere (as yet undecided) and having a few pints and no doubt a few Cheltenham bets before heading off to our respective football matches. His beloved Albion are hosting Crystal Palace whilst my beloved Villa are hosting Arsenal. After the match it's back into town to Snobs to celebrate Ed's birthday (which is actually today) yet again. I've booked the morning off work tomorrow because I doubt I'll be in any fit state to do any work before midday.

Friday we're all off to Cheltenham as per last year to celebrate Neal's birthday which this year falls on Gold Cup day. Starting at 8am with a champagne breakfast at Neal's house we then board the coach, stop off for a full-English breakfast on the way and then arrive at Cheltenham around 11. There will be much drinking, not too much eating and a fair amount of gambling. As usual we'll be hoping to win big. I shall report my inevitable losses here in due course!

Saturday I may have plans although I have no idea what they might be at the moment. There's a band playing in town somewhere that I'd half like to see but I don't know if we can organise it in time. Sunday it's back to Villa Park for the Liverpool game which brings us to Monday and the start of another week.
