This week at work has been predictably hectic. On Monday morning we went into work early for some a Christmas breakfast, courtesy of the boss. The options for such things in Oldbury are quite limited so we had breakfast baguettes from one of the local sandwich emporia which were very nice.
Tuesday, my day off, I went into town to finish off my Christmas shopping before heading to our Nechells shop to offer some assistance during their PCT inspection. Quite which idiot decided to schedule an inspection in the week before Christmas I have no idea but if it's a good job I was there because they were packed out with customers and having three men in suits ticking boxes and asking damn fool questions really wasn't helping matters.
Wednesday Paul flew off to Florida in the fog, leaving us at the mercy of a locum - a rather cynical Scottish gentleman by the name of James with whom I happen to get on quite well. Not much happened then or Thursday other than us being busy. Friday I went to Bentley - our busiest shop - to help out on what should have been the busiest day of the year. It wasn't but it was still busy. At one point we had FOUR pharmacists, FIVE dispensers, THREE counter girls and ONE work experience type and none of us were standing round twiddling our thumbs. Two of the pharmacists then headed off the Coventry airport to catch their plane to Barcelona. I haven't heard whether they got it or not but I do know it was due to take off 45 minutes later than scheduled, from East Midlands Airport, effectively buggering up their one hour transfer to their Madrid flight at the other end.
After work I went to dinner with Tom and Dan and then we went back to their flat and watched QI, Jonathan Ross and The Girl Next Door. Richard Hammond was on JR and he looked and sounded remarkably healthy considering the fact that earlier in the year he crashed a jet car at some ridiculous speed.
Today I went to the football. It sucked. We lost 3-0 against Manchester United. Unsurprising perhaps but still annoying. And it was FUCKING FREEZING too.
And now I'm in party mode. I'm off into town in about 10 minutes, even though I don't really feel like it, because tis the season...and all that. Tomorrow I shall no doubt find something suitably Christmas-Evey to do, Monday I shall be eating and drinking far too much and then on Tuesday I have to be up stupidly early to make a 1pm kick off in Norf Landan.
Such is life...
