OK.. contrary to that HORRENDOUS video clip I posted the other day, the new Kate Bush CD is AMAZING. I am SO glad she's back to her old self and not still on that adult contemporary "Sensual World" kick... Well, I mean, she's always been a little Adult Contemporary, but this one's not so bad... it's definitely slower than I usually like albums to be, but there's no super cheesey synth strings and basslines that were littered through "The Red Shoes" and "The Sensual World". There are, however, her signature drug induced lyrics.... On one song she sings the numbers in PI and in another she repeats, "Washing Machine... Washing Machine... Washing Machine... Washing machine..." over and over and over... I'd recommend it if you're a Kate Bush fan... OR if you don't know who she is and you like Tori Amos... I hate to compare the two, but especially on this CD you can CLEARLY see how much Kate has influenced Tori.. I mean, Tori is OK and all, but she's no Kate Bush... And I think she wishes she were... Went to Cuthbert today so I got to listen to disc one on the way there and disc two on the way back, which was nice...
Had a good trip home... Got to visit a lady I grew up with named Ollie... She worked with and for my Aunt and Uncle when they owned their dry cleaning business so I was around her every day... She is SUCH an awesome lady and I haven't seen her in at least a year... I was taking my Aunt to the store and she was like, "Why don't we go see Ollie?" So that was cool... She and my Aunt talked about who all was dead or has died (which is a Southern thing to do, I think... Particularly in my Southern Gothic family) while I snapped pics of them with my cell phone... They had no idea I was doing it... I wish I'd actually gotten out my camera and photographed her properly... I even had it with me and I didn't ask if I could take her picture... I don't know why but I've always had a hard time asking people if I could photograph them... I think it comes from me absolutely HATING to have my picture taken... ANYWAY, she was really happy to see me and slapped me on the back so hard that it left a red mark for awhile... I'd HATE to be a grandkid and have her beat my ass... She's like, 75 and strong as hell... For a GOOD 15 minutes the conversation was dominated by her just saying, "LOOK-A-THERE!!!! LOOK-A-THERE!!!! JASON DONE COME TO SEE ME... LORD-A-MERCY!!! YES MA'AM! LOOK-A-THERE! DONE COME TO SEE ME!" She is SO funny... At one point we were talking and she just started laughing and said, "LORD I AM HAVING A GOOD TIME!" It was soon after that the conversation was: "Honey you know she DIED! Mmmm Hmmm... Her and Skeet Willis BOTH died." to which my aunt would reply asking about someone else and the answer would be: "LORD honey... HE DIED. Mmm Hmmm... Beebo Johnson come in and KILLED him DEAD... And nobody wanna do a THANG about it". Like, seriously they talked about at least 40 dead people... I wish I could just set up a camera and tape her... Which I guess I COULD do if I really wanted to... LOL I actually almost made a phone post just so I could imitate her talking, but I didn't want anyone to think I was really making fun of her...
She gave my Aunt a plant because it had a rooting of a plant that belonged to someone they both knew who died... Actually, a lot of her plants were from dead people... LOL
